Back in the day, before television, people had to listen to the political candidates. Once upon a time people were not focused on how a person dressed because they were more concerned with what a person could do? The advent of television redirected the way many chose their political leaders, the Kennedy’s looked good.

There was a time in which the news media presented information to the public that was factual; today’s media is biased. Every news outlet- print, radio, television and on-line- has a ideological agenda. Facts fall by the wayside as point of views become the focus.

Despite there being numerous twenty-four hour news networks, or because of it, actions and words of politicians are partially presented. The partially presented words called sound-bites which promote ideology.  By repeating a sentence or a few words spoken by an individual the media can infuse additional words into a report which will force the listener to think a particular way.

Party loyalty is strong in the United States Republican, democrat, libertarian, conservative, moderate, and liberal are the ideologies of voters. There is a tendency for even those who consider themselves independent to hold onto ideas that are promoted by the particular media outlet listened to.

Political thinking is corrupt. Accusations of being a Republican in name only - R.I.N.O.- are directed towards those who do not behave as others think a Republican should. Despite the President of the United States showing obvious bias to specific groups and  having a presidential candidate, in the same party, under federal investigation those who vote Democrat refuse to acknowledge any wrong doing. It is ‘poli-think’ maintaining irrational ideas despite the availability of facts and common sense.

Poli-think, a word I made up for the purposes of this article, is developed by the media. By manipulating the words of candidates, not presenting information pertinent and not sharing the circumstances in which something was said or done the minds of the listener is being manipulated. The media has successfully directed many to think a particular way as it pertains to politics.

Note: it is not just political ideology that has been manipulated.

Many Americans have become low information voters by choice. Far to many are loyal to the alphabet that has been associated with their family, culture, race or even church: D, R, or I. No longer do voters listen to a candidate speak for information instead they are dependent on reports from the media. Some of those who do listen to political speeches often trust the media for interpretation; poli-think

It is time people stop being loyal to political parties. Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians and Independents are not always correct. It is important that each voter know what each candidate intends on doing and the ramifications of every issue. Every citizen should know why he is voting for a particular candidate based on fact.

It takes me 9 days, about 40 hours, to make one wash cloth, so why do I make them? Because I can. Everything can be done faster; everything can be gotten quicker but the quality of faster and quicker is not the same as making it yourself.

When I make a washcloth I control the color, the size and the quality of the material. Yes, you have to use 100% cotton but. When I purchase yarn from Walmart it is not as good as the yarn I purchase from Hobby Lobby- I loooooooove Hobby Lobby.

The problem with making your own washcloths is the cost of your time. I spend a little over 2 hours a day knitting wash cloths at $8 an hour that is $160 of labor the yarn is less than $5 so to charge what it actually cost to make the washcloth I would have to sell it for at least $165. I have seen crocheted washcloths available on Etsy anywhere from $5 to $10. I chose to knit the washcloths because the stitch is tighter but it takes longer. I could probably crochet a washcloth in a day, if I were going to sell what I made I would probably crochet them instead of knitting.

My personal goal is to convert most of my in house washcloths to handmade. And use the others for gift items. I have and will make washcloths by request.

The children of Israel were slaves to the Egyptians for many years.  “And the Lord said; “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters for I know their sorrows.”” They were indeed oppressed.

Oppress-to govern or manage with cruel or unjust impositions or restraints; exercise harsh authority or power over {Webster’s Universal College Dictionary 1997}

When people pray they assume God hears what they are saying, the Bible is clear as to what God receives. In Exodus the Lord said He has seen their oppression and heard their cry because of the oppression. In Isaiah God says His Word returns to Him.

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth: it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I pleased and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.  Isiah 55:11 NKJV
Notice God has sent His word from heaven to the earth for a reason thus we when send His word out into the atmosphere it is God who receives it having done what it should do. It is God’s word in our prayers that the angels respond to.

“Let my prayer be set before You as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.” Psalm 141:3 NKJV
“…and golden bowls full of incense, which were the prayers of the saints.” Revelations 5:8c NKJV
“Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints ascended before God from the angel’s hand.”  Revelation 8:3-4 NKJV

When we pray we are to use the language God has provided and words He has established. Our God given words become a sweet smell to Father God. However, negative words are not received in the same manner in fact they have the opposite affect; words contrary to Scripture give demonic forces access to our lives.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”  Proverbs 18:21 NKJV

In Exodus it was not the complaints that God heard or the sinful behavior of the people that he saw. What Father God saw was the oppression of the people. God heard the cries of the people which were based on His promise that they would be blessed.

When you are living your life and things happen that are beyond your control creating problems that you cannot solve on your own and you have no other choice but to endure while holding on to the promises of God be confident that God will deliver you.

When a person today complains about how “African-Americans” were brought to this country as slaves and that there is racism in existence today, they think they are talking about oppression they are not. They are focused on the past and not the Word of God; they are speaking words of death and not words of life. When a person says “I cannot succeed because a white man is holding me down” the angels cannot do anything with that confession. When a person declares: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me,” as it is written in Philippians 4:13 the angels can take those words and give them back to Father God. God’s words once received are accomplished. in which case

There are times when we are standing on God’s word and crap continues to happen: your boss will not give you the deserved promotion or raise and makes excessive demands on you; you have an abusive spouse; you have medical issues; you have more bills than money; and other such problems in which you do not know what to do. God sees your response to the problems, He knows why things are the way that they are and He hears your moaning in the night. You continue living the best that you can looking for deliverance from your oppression.

“Faith is the assurance of things you have hoped for, the absolute conviction that there are realities you’ve never seen.” Hebrews 11:1 The Voice.

I consider myself at the beginning stages of being a Prepper, but I am not sure I want to go to go full throttle Prepper (bug-out places etcetera).
A Prepper: is someone who is ready for emergencies of all sorts.
A Hybrid: the merger of two or more ideologies.
As a Hybrid-Prepper I want to live as a prepping  homesteader though homesteaders do prep. Since I don't live on a homestead I consider myself a Hybrid-Prepper.

I don’t believe I could consider myself a Prepper in the purest of terms because I have yet to save any type of water, food or money. I live in the city and I have yet to purchase my first chicken and I have yet to successfully grow a vegetable. Furthermore:

  • My husband is not a Prepper, though he has some homesteader qualities
  • I believe  Biblical preparation is just as important as  stock piling food

Fro now  I am going to be prepared and I will take full advantage of the numerous veteran Preppers out there. I want to be ready every time there is an emergency and when stuff really hits the fan!

After a hurricane there is often no electricity and the water is not safe to drink; stores are closed and cable does not work. Without electricity gas stations are shut down and cell phones are used sparingly to reserve batteries. Communication with individuals outside of your community, may not be possible. Financially, there could be the added cost of living in a hotel until such time as it is safe to return home.

My goal is to leave the city and move to the country within the next 4 years. Though there are many Preppers who live in the city I believe the best place to be is away from the general population. Canned goods, water, flashlights, candles, and emergency cash are things that I need to accumulate monthly no matter where I live.

I believe the biggest threat to people is the government. There ability to pick and choose what a person can and cannot do regardless of faith is disconcerting. Consider the judgments against Christians here in the United States recently. Whereas, many people expect the government to help them in times of crisis I believe there will some day be strings attached to that assistance.

I did not know what the Bible said about prepping because I had never looked or even thought about what I had already read.  Noah: spent years building the ark and telling people to get ready- they did not.  Jesus told the story of ten virgins: 5 were wise they kept their lamps filled with oil and 5 were considered foolish they had lamps were not ready when the Bridegroom came because their lamps were empty ( Matthew 25:1-13). Noah and the five virgins were ready- they prepared. Even in the book of Exodus God told the people to get ready to leave.

The one question (challenge) I have heard from non-Preppers: Do you let the people around you die if a disaster occurs? People died in the days of Noah not because Noah let them die but because though he inwarned them they did not listen (2 Peter 2:5). People blamed the government for the death of those individuals who died during hurricane Katrine (August 2005) yet they were instructed to evacuate. Information is available to anyone who dares to pay attention.  Non-Preppers may decide not to be ready because they will not be able to help their family and others, I will not make the decision to suffer just because someone  chose not to get ready. However, like everything else I do, I will share what I know and help people learn how to help themselves. Consider:

  • I am doing this by myself, my husband is not on board.
  • I have zero dollars saved and I am in debt.
  • I have to first stock my household kitchen before I can focus on surplus foods
  • I don’t have any idea what I am doing
  • I have to do things according to God’s word.

Finally: I believe that we are living in the end times. Unfortunately, as I see it, far to many people of color choose not to prepare. There are lots of reasons, all bad, why Black people refuse to prepare but the bottom line is they just don’t want to. I believe everyone, regardless of social standing, should be ready every time  Shit-Hits-The-Fan.

People are obsessed with loosing weight and the market has been very accommodating. Far to many people join gyms in January and loose interest by March. For those who want to loose weight quick there are books, foods, fitness planners, fitness coaches, and diet gurus such as Jenny Craig.
Though once reserved for those who are morbidly obese (so overweight they could die) there is surgery. Unfortunately, there are some who would rather have their stomach reduced than cut back on the food and exercise. I know of one person who had the surgery lost a lot of weight and then over the years gained back most of it.  There is a difference between morbid obesity and being obese; there is a difference between dieting and learning to eat healthy.

Healthy eating along with activity leads to weight loss. Fat and skinny people eat at the all you can eat buffet, eating more than one serving is not healthy for either. Eating the right foods alone does not make you healthy.

By definition a diet is a meal plan- of any type. Weight loss diets are short term meal plans designed with an end in mind. After the individual has achieved her goal (or his) then she may go back to the way she use to eat particularly if she has been using preprepared foods. Unfortunately, many people gain the weight back.

I have learned over the years that a healthy lifestyle is better than quick weight loss. Since I have been with THE AIM COMPANY I have discovered that most people want to be healthy but they do not want to do the work involved. It is easy to have someone tell you what to eat and not eat and fun to cheat. Transitioning to a lifestyle that includes healthy eating requires learning how the body operates and what your body needs.

As a Living Well Coach with THE AIM COMPANIES I encounter people who put far to much trust in what other people do. It is difficult to educate a person who wants to do what everyone else is doing.

Products from THE AIM COMPANIES focus on healthy body cells and are not designed for quick weight loss. People who incorporate products from THE AIM COMPANY along with adjusting what they eat can loose weight. More importantly they will discover they will become healthier. Many who  incorporate healthy eating, exercise and supplements from THE AIM COMPANIES find their blood pressure is lower, their blood sugar is normal, their cholesterol is within normal range and their energy level is up.

Your goal should not be quick weight loss but healthy living. It takes time to undo all the bad habits that you have accumulated over the years therefore my first recommendation is Bible study. It is important that you assume responsibility for what you know as it relates to what you believe. As you determine what your health goals (not weight goals) are I recommend that you get rid of all of those vitamins purchased from other stores- most of which your body does not absorb- and start taking BARLEY LIFE. The third thing I recommend is that you begin walking ten minutes a day. After about 2 weeks you and I will know if you are ready to make the necessary dietary changes that will

The words written are based on my personal knowledge. I am an Independent Distributor of THE AIM COMPANIES US products. I have completed The Aim Companies Living Well Program and am a recognized LIVING WELL COACH through THE AIM COMPANIES. Products mentioned can be purchased through Marsha L Randolph or directly from THE AIM COMPANIES.

“Lord have mercy!” That was all I could say. I was sitting on my front porch reading my Bible when one of the women from church, whom I have not seen in a while, pulled up in a brand new sports car. As she  got out of the car I had to reach down like I was tying my shoes, I was barefoot, to hide my laugh. “Lord have mercy!” I whispered.

“Hey, Nettie!” she said as she got out of the car. “What do you think?”
I took a deep breath trying to compose myself. Should I tell the truth or pretend like I don’t know what she is taking about. “About what?” I asked, ignorance was the better response.

“About these!” she said cupping her breast.

“They are noticeable!” I said. What I did not mention was the bright red hair she had on her head.

“Yes, ma’am! I flew to California and had them done by one of those celebrity plastic surgeons. Cost me more to get them done their than it would have here but,” cupping her breast again for emphasis, “I wanted them done right!”

“Boobs and a new car? What is this all about?” I asked.

“New car, new breast, new clothes, and new hair make a new me!”

I don’t know why people always start talking before they get on my front porch but they do. By the time she reached my porch she had sashayed up and down the sidewalk a couple of times as if she was the worlds top model. And then, Lord have mercy, she took a selfie of herself on her car before coming on the porch.

“Don’t bother getting me anything to drink, I am not staying long. I knew you would be on the porch this time of day so I couldn’t help but come by and show off.”

“And where are you off to?”

“I have a lunch date.” She said smiling.

“Oh? Has he seen all this?”

“No, we are just meeting for the first time today. I met him through one of those online dating sites.”

“You are to  old for that foolishness.”

“I don’t want any of these hicks that live around here and this is the best way to find men with the same interest.”

“And you changed your entire appearance for a man you don’t know?”

“Listen Nettie you have a man, a good man and I want one. You don’t care what you look like.”

“Excuse me?”

“When we get old our breast go flat, our hair gets thin, our butt gets saggy and our stomachs get flabby. No man wants that especially when all these young girls are out there looking for men our age. You are married and your husband likes you the way you are.”

“What about the car? What in the world you need a sports car for?”

“That’s my bait! I am going to get me a young man. I need some excitement in my life Nettie, and I ain't gettin’ it from sittin’ in the church choir!”

“Let me tell you this, and you don’t have to listen to what I say ‘cause it is just my opinion. It is a good thing to care about your body and keep it as healthy as possible; eat right, exercise, get plenty of rest. It is a good thing to want to stay busy, doing something that motivates you to wake up in the morning. What is not good is trying to reinvent the wheel.

“I can understand not wanting to spend the rest of your life alone and I can appreciate the fact that their may not be any men in your church that appeal to you. But this,” I spread my arms out palms up as if to present her car to her “this my dear is how to find trouble.

“If you like the car, keep the car. If a breast enlargement is what you want fine. BUT my dear a new car and bigger boobs is not going to change the fact that you are over fifty.
“It is hard for a woman sometimes to realize that a certain part of our lives is over: the hot flashes have stopped; some of us need to make it to the bathroom a little faster; with no more babies to nurse our breast deflate, cellulite takes over our thighs and we would rather wear tennis shoes than stilettos. But with age should come wisdom.
“I don’t focus on my receding hairline or my sagging boobs. I know it’s different for me because I have a husband however that can be a disadvantage as well as an advantage. The good news for us is we are past thinking physical appearance will lead to a lasting marriage.
“Let me ask you: what are you going to do with a young man? You just want sex all the time? Are you going to be around his friends or yours? Are the two of you going to visit your grandchildren on Saturday and his children, if he has any, on Sunday? Oh, perhaps you don’t want a longterm relationship maybe you just want someone to take you out to dinner from time to time; that is what men our age do not younger men.”

“Nettie I just want someone to be with me, someone to cook for besides myself.”

“Then get a job in a restaurant!”

“You know what I mean. I want to snuggle up at night with someone warm.”

“Then get a dog!”

“Nettie! You are being facetious and I am serious. I am lonely, I am tired of being by myself.”

“I am serious. You need to learn to like the skin you are in. You need to learn to appreciate who you are in this stage of your life. There is no law that says you cannot have fun. At the end of the day, even with a man, you have to come home to you.
“How long are you going to live to impress? How long are you going to ride around in a fast car and dress in clothes that are not comfortable? Are you going to get your breast done again in ten years? What kind of sports car does an 80 year old drive? In thirty years will the fifty year olds be appealing to you? What happens when your young man gets old?”

“Nettie, I just came by to show you my new car and my new look. I thought you would be happy for me.”

“If you are happy I am happy for you but I don’t believe you are happy. You may like how you look and you may like your car but unfortunately, you realize you spent over two hundred thousand dollars and nothing has really changed. And for the record, there are quite a few good men our age in this community, a few of them have their own sports car they just choose to drive a truck when working.”

She left without responding to my words. She will be back, they usually do after a month or two.

It is sad that so many people believe they have to change their appearance in order to receive acceptance. What is even sadder is people who look at appearance as a criteria for longterm a long term relationship.

Today many consider themselves oppressed when they are not. Many people have the ability to walk into their God given destiny and live a life of purpose. To state you cannot succeed because your a woman, or black, or you don’t speak English or any other excuse based directly or indirectly on what the government did or has not done is to deny the word of God.

“And the Lord said “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Cananites and the Hitites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.”” Exodus 3:7-8 NKJV

When God said He was going to deliver His children from their oppression He did not say they would fly on a magic carpet into a life on easy street. Neither God nor the government can force a person to behave a particular way; God did not make us puppets and the government is not God. Though God said He would deliver His people and there are laws against discrimination within the laws of the government people still have the right to behave as they see fit.  God mentions six groups of people who will try and stop the children of Israel from receiving what God wanted them to have; there are people today who want to stop you from getting where you need to go. The fact that there is opposition was not a surprise to the children of Israel and it should not be a surprise to you.

My NKJV Study Bible within the book of Exodus shares this definition of deliverance:
“The verb may mean either: to strip, to plunder” or “to snatch away, to deliver.” The word is often used to describe God’s work in delivering (3:8)or rescuing (6:6) the Israelites from slavery. Sometimes it signifies deliverance of God’s people from sin and guilt (Ps. 51:14). But in 18:8,, the word is a statement of God’s supremacy over the Egyptian pantheon of deities. The Lord was so powerful that He could “snatch” the entire nation of Israel from Pharaoh’s grasp (18:10). This was only the beginning, for God repeatedly delivered the Israelites from their enemies (Josh. 11:6; Judg. 3:9) The Lord was their Deliverer, and the psalmist proclaimed this fact with joy (Ps. 18:12; 144:2).” NKJV Study Bible Second Edition Full Color Edition; Thomas Nelson Publisher 2014- Found on page 96

“I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.” Psalm 18:2 NKJV

The expectation of most people is one of: being in a mess, praying, going to sleep and then waking up no longer in the mess. God led the children of Israel out of bondage they had to walk out of the country, through the Red Sea, through the wilderness and when the arrived at the promised property they had to fight. What God did was make sure they won the battles as long as they fought the way He told them to fight.

Next week I will discuss Oppression

WHY? On my Way to being a Prepper.

It occurred to me that I did not come to this conclusion overnight. I have been exposed to certain ideas and lifestyles for years. I have experienced blizzards in the suburbs, hurricanes in the city and isolation in the country. And as I reread Matthew 24, “wars and rumors of wars,”  it seems to validate my opinion that I should be ready for any type of emergency.

Jesus: “Take care that you are not deceived. For many will come in My name claiming they are the Anointed One, and many poor souls will be taken in. You will hear of wars, and you will hear rumors of wars but you should not panic. It is inevitable, this violent breaking apart of the sinful world, but remember, the wars are not the end. The end is still unfolding. Nations will do battle with nations, and kingdoms will fight neighboring kingdoms, and there will be famines and earthquakes. But these are not the end. These are the birth pangs, the beginning. The end is still unfolding.” Matthew 24:4-8 The Voice

No matter what translation you read if you think about what is happening today I don’t know how you can not conclude that you need to do something.

Forget about, at least for now, the return of the Messiah. There are emergencies that occur all the time: blizzards, fires, hurricanes, tornadoes and even problems with the water (Flint Michigan). Despite warnings people are often not ready (New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina) lack of preparation can be deadly.

Unfortunately, I frequently come across people who only do last minute preparations. Upon receiving notice that a blizzard, or other emergency, some people wait until the last minute to purchase just enough supplies.

Far to many people have made the decision to depend on the government to help them regardless of what the emergency is.

I have concluded that I need to prepare continuously for emergencies not only those of biblical proportions but weather related crisis as well as financial crisis.

It is called prepping; being ready for, as many call it, SHTF (when Shit Hits The Fan). What is SHTF? Your loosing your job; a weather emergency; prolonged power outage; a change in the way the government exist. Are you ready for any type of emergency?

The Bible says not only will there  be wars but rumors of wars and nations will battle against battle against nations this indicates a lack of peace throughout the earth. It is Jesus who is declaring that the things that are going on is the end unfolding; the New King James Bible verse 8 reads:  “All these are the beginning of sorrows.”  Christians believe in the end times they just seem to have problems accepting that now is the ending of times.

In case of an emergency how do I survive” For 24 hours? For three days? For a week? For a month?

There are many reasons to prepare for emergencies, the only reason a person would not is because they do not believe in prepping.

I make soap  because I choose not to  place  chemicals on my skin  that can be absorbed into my body.  I sell soap because I have met a great number of individuals who have discovered the benefits of natural products.

The first soap I ever made was a shea butter melt and pour product, I have always been a fan of shea butter soaps. The cost of purchasing melt and pour products and the speed at which the soap dissolved  motivated me to learn how to make my own soap. Since my first bar of cold press soap I have evolved and now have four distinct oil combinations that are the basis of my soaps. (I have created special formulas for special purposes.) Every time I use a bar of soap I fall in love with that particular soap.

If you are new to homemade soaps I would suggest you try NETTIE’S BASIC BAR. Many people use OLIVE OIL,  the main ingredient of this soap, as a lotion.

NETTIE'S BASIC BAR will moisturize your skin without clogging your pours. I created this formula so that because I wanted a guest soap that would be firm, lather well, and make a person feel refreshed after use.  This is the formula I like to add EUCALYPTUS ESSENTIAL OIL TO!

Eucalyptus Essential Oil is known for anti-inflammatory properties.  It has a menthol smell that helps open airwaves. People who have arthritis type symptoms and stuffy noses use Eucalyptus Essential Oils to help alleviate the symptoms. There is also an antiseptic quality to this, one of my favorite, essential oil.

It was by request that I created  GRANDMA'S OATMEAL RECIPE SOAP . There are so many people who have skin problems in which bathing with oatmeal helps.  Along with the oils used to create this particular formula the oatmeal  not only acts as an exfolliant but it can relieve itchy skin.

GRANDMA’S OATMEAL RECIPE  is more than a soap to use if you get poison ivy!  When you are looking for non-pharmaceutical ways to alleviate joint discomfort try a nice hot bath with GRANDMA’S OATMEAL RECIPE which has anti-inflammatory properties. This soap will also help you maintain a healthy skin pH.

So eat your oatmeal and wash with it too!

Replace those store bought soaps with any of these  homemade  delights!
To order email Marsha @  MyCountryCityProject@gmail.com

I will not confirm or deny the rumors but I do use COUNTRY CAFE’.

What rumors you ask? Well:  They say caffeine will get rid of cellulite perhaps this soap is such a great seller.  It is not just the Olive Oil and Coffee in the soap but the COFFEE in and on and around the soap that makes COUNTRY CAFE’ a must have for your spa collection.  Buy this homemade soap with body loving ingredients to  hide cellulite (at least temporarily) and make your body bathing suit cute.

Two soaps that need no introduction because of the special ingredient used and if you are reading this they are probably SOLD OUT!!!!

FARM FRESH is made with GOAT MILK  is soap made the old fashioned way using Mantecca as the primary oil and Goat Milk instead of water added to the sodium Hydroxide.  (Can I tell you a secret? Promise you will not tell anyone? Mantecca is pig fat aka Lard and sodium hydroxide is Lye. Lye is in every solid soap made but when added to the acid which is found in oils it is neutralized into a salt that we call soap.)Every time I make this soap my personal bar disappears.

Farm Fresh is everything you think a luxury bar should be and more. It looks good and it makes you feel good.

As I said I started making soap because I like shea butter soaps. Now that I make my own I can never ever use a store bought bar again! Oh how I love  COUNTRY COMFORT !!!!!!!!   Scented, unscented I don’t care I make this one by special request of me. Unfortunately everyone likes this soap. One of my customers picked up her bar of soap and requested another before I had made the next batch. I gave my sister a free bar and her daughter took it before she could use it.

COUNTRY COMFORT a soap with shea butter as an ingredient is what I call a skin equalizer. For me it evens out my skin tone as well as  moisturizes.

Unless allergic to the ingredients, listed on the wrapping, all of these soaps are gentle enough for a baby but SUNDAY MORNING is formulated with infants in mind;

Made with Olive Oil, Coconut Oil and Castor Oil what makes this soap special is I use Coconut Milk instead of distilled water. The ration of the ingredients was created to make sure that the soap was both cleansing and conditioning.  SUNDAY MORNING  does not contain any scents or colors.

“In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry came before Him, even to His ears.” Psalm 18:6 NKJV

Even brave Christians have moments of distress. It’s not that anyone is complaining or wants to quit it is just because the journey gets rough sometimes. It was in the middle of a great time of distress in which the people he knew and trusted was against him that David encouraged- some translations say strengthened- himself (1 Samuel 30:6). And he, David, turned to the Lord for direction (1 Samuel 30:7-8) and God told him to keep going.

You have to know the Word; you have to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus and know Scripture in order to overcome hard times. Jesus said:

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer I have overcome the world. John 16:33 NKJV

Crap happens! No matter how diligent you try to adhere to the principles and precepts found in God’s word. Many of us put a smile on our face and go about our daily activities as if everything is alright when it is not. If David had not encouraged himself he would have given up.

“And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire; and had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way. So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives. Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep. And David's two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite. And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” 1 Samuel 30:1-6 KJV

The town was destroyed, the women were captured (including David’s 2 wives) as were the children and the men were so angry that they were considering killing David. What would you do? I have heard of people who have lost their mind, literally, when tragedy has struck. I have heard of people who have committed suicide when tragedy struck. There are people who turn to evil when tragedy strikes and live the rest of their lives in hate and unwilling to forgive. But David had a relationship with God and in the midst of his pain he decided to go to the One who could deliver him from his despair.

David went to God and asked what do you want me to do? David did not complain about what had happened. David did not blame God for what had happened. David did not go to God and accuse Him of not fulfilling His promises. He asked God: Do you want me to keep going?

“And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.” 1 Samuel 30:8 KJV

God knew what had happened to the people David did not need to inform Him of the situation. When David went to God he simply asked: Do you want me to keep going?
It is safe to assume that David was hurting, this is why he had to encourage himself. The fact people with weapons were ready to kill him is not conducive to feeling safe and secure. Yet, in his time of distress David did what was necessary to get past his feelings; he sucked it up and encouraged himself and then he turned to God.

Jesus knew that He would have to suffer yet the agony of being separated from His Father did not make it any easier. Nothing we have gone through, are going through or will go through can compared to what Jesus did on our behalf.

“And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?” Matthew 27:46 NKJV

In His distress God the Son cried out to God the Father; it was not a statement needing a response because they both knew why. God knows exactly what is going on in your life and why it is happening.
“And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.” Matthew 27:50 NKJV

Jesus decided to keep going. David decided to keep going. You must decide to keep going.

As long as you are doing what God has instructed you to do you will have victory. Jesus arouse from death and now is alive sitting next to Father God. David got back everything the enemy had stolen from him as did the men who had threatened to kill him.

“In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry came before Him, even to His ears.” Psalm 18:6 NKJV

Psalm 18:6 is not about your prayers it is about your life. You are important to God. God sees and hears what is going on in your life. Jesus said we are to expect crap to happen but know that He has made a way for everyone to overcome the crap but you have to keep going.

If you leave yourself open to the possibilities of life you will discover God’s plans are so much more pleasant than anything you could dream of.
I did not plan to make any of what I do today the basis of any blog post or book it just happened. I like my life and I enjoy sitting on my front porch and appreciating the sun and the sky and the earth. My front porch is where I talk to God and God talks to me. Whenever people would drop by to visit it just so happened that I was sitting in my antique rocking chair on my front porch.
Now it is true that people liked talking to me because I gave my opinion and made it very clear my opinion is not God’s opinion. Not everyone agrees with what I think, Sharon Sertim never agrees- Sister Sharon is what she prefers to be called, but the people who come by appreciate the fact that they can vent and I do not look down on them because they have a problem.
Every now and then my husband will sit on the front porch with me and together we bask in all that God has blessed us with. Generally speaking if he is home Chip, that’s my husband, hangs out in the back fooling with the animals or pulling weeds in the garden. Our marriage is good; we are comfortable with each other, we appreciate the other’s differences, I respect and honor my husband and he respects and loves me. Chip is a very smart man and when the two of us are on the front porch listening to someone the wisdom he shares is more powerful than anything you will hear on a Sunday morning.
If someone would have told me ten years ago that I would be doing what I do today I would have thought they did not know what they were talking about. Sure, I knew that I would write books and occasionally speak in front of a group but to sit on my front porch and just be able to share with others what the Lord has told me I never thought it would be this easy.
All I know is that I am open to the direction of the Holy Spirit and He directs my path daily. I made up my mind a long long time ago that I would be a God pleaser and not a man pleaser, and that includes my husband. God tells me to sit on my front porch and be still; the stories come.

“Be still, be calm, see, and understand I am the True God. I am honored among the nations. I am honored over all the earth.” Psalm 46:10 The Voice

If you leave yourself open to the possibilities of life you will discover God’s plans are so much more pleasant than anything you could dream of.

When I get mad I am quiet.
When I am quiet I pray
When I pray I talk to Father God
When I talk to Father God I tell Him all of my problems
When I tell Father God all of my problems; He listens
When He listens He understands
When Father God understands He takes my problems and handles them
When Father God takes my problems He solves them to my advantage.

I am very much interested in preparing for emergencies, long term and short term. I would love to one day have a homestead and grow as much of my own food and raise as much of my own meat as I am able.

I believe it is important that people are spiritually prepared for what is happening in the world today and what will happen in the future. I believe we are in the ‘end times.’ People are too dependent on grocery stores, the government, their church leader and technology; they have become lazy. Once upon a time I told people to read their Bible now I encourage them to study Scripture, there is a difference.

Satan is influencing people in high places; there are far to many legalized behaviors that are not acceptable to God. As Christians begin to disagree with laws that are against Scripture the consequences will include the inability for believers to peacefully co-exist with non-believers. It is sad to see how demonic influences have compromised so many church leaders including accepting same sex relationships and uniting these individuals in marriage.

A part of being self-sufficiency is being healthy. I believe the fact that we introduce so many man made chemicals in our body for the sake of being healthy is what is making us sick. I believe there is a direct relation between the mandatory immunizations, the increased number of vaccines and the genetically modified foods we eat as well as the drugs (over the counter and prescription) that we take has led to cell mutation resulting in Alzheimer's, cancer, autism and other difficult to treat health issues; to some extent, even obesity.

Far to many individuals have gotten use to the easy life they like to do a lot of stuff and therefor find it necessary to speed up the preparation process. Remember when “permanent press” clothing first came out? No? That is because now most clothing are made so that you don’t need to iron them and of course you can always take your dress shirts to the dry cleaners. Had a long day at work? Pick up fast food and dinner will be ready as soon as you walk in the door! Making your own dinner but want fresh vegetables? There is a place in which they will pick them for you and package them nicely- the grocery store! Organic cost extra. I drive to the store that is in walking distance of my house because it is faster; all of us must change.

I am not promoting isolationism but sanctification. Isolationism separates a person or group of people from everyone. Sanctification is living your life according to Scripture which may lead to judgment from non-believers because they are still around you. Followers of Jesus are to be in this world but not live as those who are in this world do, we are sanctified (see Hebrews 10:7-18).

I do not know when Jesus is coming even though I firmly believe we are in the end times. If Jesus comes in 60 years I will probably be dead but my grandchildren and perhaps great-grandchildren will be alive. I believe when our Messiah comes we will be raptured but the days leading up to that time will be filled with confusion and persecutions- sounds like what is happening now.

In preparing for emergencies I am an example to my family, even if they do not agree with everything I do they will see some wisdom in much of it. All it takes is one hurricane, or someone being stuck in the house because of a blizzard, or someone having no electricity or fresh water after a tornado, or someone who has to to evacuate their home because of fires to understand the importance of being prepared.

If you can prepare for short term emergencies you can prepare for long term emergencies. The principles involved in doing so are not that complicated but they involve a commitment to slowing down and doing things correctly.

QUESTION: Could your household survive 3 days without electricity or fresh water?
No electricity means: no cable, anything that uses battery will soon not work (cell phones); the banks will be closed, no atm machines, grocery stores would close, fast food places would close, gas stations would close, no lights in your home and more.

After a hurricane it is possible to go days without electricity or fresh water for days. Because of the problems with the water filtration system people in Flint Michigan (2016) cannot drink the water and this has been going on for months. There is always a question of what would happen in certain communities if the power grid was off.

Preppers are ready for any emergency, most people are not ready for one. The following is a list of things everyone should do particularly if you want to be ready for an emergency.

  1. Get debt free.
  2. Evaluate your lifestyle.
  3. Get healthy
  4. Study your Bible
  5. Know what is going on in your community and around the world.

Perhaps there are more things that could be added to the list. I believe if you were to really consider where you are at this moment and then look around at what is going on in this world you will start preparing for an emergency.
