WHEN THE BURDENS BECOME TO MUCH

Exodus 6:9 THE VOICE
“So Moses went and told these things to the Israelites, but they turned a deaf ear to him because they were in such low spirits and exhausted from their harsh labor.”

Sometimes the problem is not that you refuse to believe but you have been going through stuff for so long that you cannot motivate yourself to get excited about what could be. For some the lack of support makes a goal harder to achieve and so they change their dreams to one established by a stranger. Even those who believe God’s word is possible have a hard time accepting His promises when the doctor says it is impossible. And others give in to family and friends who sincerely discourage a person from stepping out of his comfort zone. It seems that for every step forward a person takes they are pushed two steps back; hope is rejected because hope has disappointed.

Some people have been going through difficulties their entire life hardship is all that is known.  The New King James version of Exodus 6:9 states: the Israelites had an “anguish of spirit and cruel bondage,”  It is not just that they were mad but they did not have the freedom needed to get away so they could get themselves together. When Moses came with a message of hope they ignored him because they believed there was no way they were going to be able to get away- even for a three day weekend.

Mark 16:14 THE VOICE
The eleven did not believe until Jesus appeared to them all as they sat at dinner. He rebuked them for their hard hearts- for their lack of faith- because they had failed to believe those witnesses who had seen Him after He had risen.

It did not take the disciples long to give up. They had heard Him teach and seen the miracles He performed; they should have remembered that He could do the impossible. They saw Him crucified, they knew He had died, and they knew where He was buried therefore in their minds Jesus was dead their faith was based on what they saw and understood not on God’s Word. The death of Jesus was the death of the disciples hope which is what got them in trouble with Jesus.

A hard heart cannot receive anything, faith cannot manifest.

Both the children of Israel and the disciples of Jesus gave up; one group had 400 years of bondage the other had three and one-half years of miraculous living. Both groups began focusing on the substance of their circumstance which they believed to be the evidence of God’s ability.

Hebrews 11:1 NKJV
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The substance of your circumstance is not evidence of God’s ability. The duration of your problem is irrelevant to a timeless God. (2 Peter 3:8)The doctors report, no matter how knowledgeable he may be, is irrelevant to our Creator.  (Luke 18:27) Other peoples are opinion do not concern Abba Father. (Romans 3:4) The evidence of God and His abilities are all around us.

Romans 1:3 The Voice
“From the beginning creation in it’s magnificence enlightens us to His nature. Creation itself makes His undying power and divine identity clear, even though they are invisible;and it voids the excuses and ignorant claims of these people”

Despite their unbelief God adhered to His promise made years before they were even born. The Israelites saw God make a way out of no way when He parted the red sea, made water come out of a rock and fed them manna from the sky.

Jesus appeared to the disciples despite their unbelief. He interacted with them, taught them more and then they saw the living Messiah ascend to heaven.

When burdens become to much it is a sign that you are focused on the world and not the Word. As followers of the Jesus we know we will have victory.

1 John 5:3-5 NKJV
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Worry, anxiety, stress, anger and such are signs that we have taken our eyes off of the Word of God and are looking at circumstances that do not come from Him.

Isaiah 26:3 NIV
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you

Sometimes, people reject the truth because their experiences are overwhelming. How often I have heard someone say: “I know for a fact!” Your facts are not greater than God’s words.

Mark 11:23 NIV
“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.”

What do you believe?

God delivered the Hebrews a.k.a. Israelites out of their bondage because He said He would.

Exodus 6:5 NKJV
“And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant.”

After years of being slaves who would have thought the children of Israel would be allowed out of the sight of their oppressor so they could worship God. But not only were they allowed to worship they left Egypt rich and would not have to return.

When life becomes to much for you to deal with it is because you have taken your eyes away from the Word and focused on your problems. God remembers what He said has your heart hardened to His will?
