Everyone has a dream and with dreams comes nay-sayers. What do you do when you are surrounded by people, particularly family, who tell you what you cannot do? Keep going.

It is important that your dream be realistic and you are willing to do the work. If you want to run a marathon next week but you are 500 pounds and never ran before-it is not going to happen. But, if you are willing to loose the weight, begin a fitness routine that includes running, at some point you will be able to run a marathon. Achieving your goal has nothing to do with other peoples opinion and everything to do with you.

Often people come to me and say: “I have a book I want to write.” My response is: “Go for it!” I always tell people, the first step is to write, it doesn’t have to be perfect it just has to be written, later corrections can be made. Very few people even start the first draft- they didn’t really want to write.
I have a friend who is very talented, he is a computer wiz yet he did nothing with his computer skills? Why? Because his family repeatedly called him a failure; they often reminded him of his mistakes.
Encouragement comes from within. If you do not believe in yourself it does not matter how awesome other people think you or your idea is.

Establish your goal, commit to doing whatever it takes to accomplish it and then do it.
