I am about 25 pounds over weight, the heaviest I have ever been. I gained weight by eating to much of the wrong types of foods and not moving. I will loose weight, as I have before by eating junk food in moderation and healthy foods in appropriate quantities. My one compromise is not to deny myself things I want; I firmly believe when people are told ‘no’ they do more of what they are not suppose to do. And, I will also get off my rusty dusty more often and ride my stationary bike as well as exercise.

It is easy to gain weight when you are home alone at a desk all day.

I would like to blame my weight gain on various summer activities which introduced lots of foods that I would normally not eat in such large quantities. And I could blame it on the high amount of stress that I encountered over the past few months but neither my family or the stressful events drove to the store and bought the box of Milk Duds, just about every day!

There are people I know that go on weight loss diets to have a great body for the summer or for special events such as weddings. They work out for a few months incorporate special food plans and then go back to their old way of eating.  I suspect a person who yo-yo diets gains more and looses less every time they do these things; this is not good for the body.
Far to frequently there are people who are dependent on prescriptions and supplements to keep their bodies going. They eat foods that raise their blood pressure so they take pills to lower it. They eat foods that will raise their blood sugar so they take pills or inject themselves with insulin to lower it. When they think they are getting ill they take a supplement that someone told them will fight a could or prevent the flu.  It is fascinating to listen to a group of over 50 people talk about the doctors they go to and the prescriptions they are on.

Everything you put into your body should have a purpose. The cells in your body needs certain nutrients depending on the function of that particular organ. Some things like soda, candy and deserts are irrelevant and contribute to the lack of proper nutrients you are taking in; it is called junk food for a reason.

Many of the people I know, young and old, do not take into consideration the long term effects of their eating habits. I have met many people who wished they had approached diet and exercise from a different perspective, particularly those with chronic diseases. It is harder to loose 25 pounds than it was to gain 25. A person can progress from being overweight to obese to morbid obesity; morbid obesity means if you don’t loose the weight you will die. It is painful to give up soda with caffeine- the headaches are no fun. People can create all kinds of problems with their digestive and endocrinology system when they go on various fad diets. (Pay attention to the commercials for reversals of lap-band surgery.) Many of the sicknesses people develop when they get older could have been prevented if they had cared for themselves when they were younger.

It is difficult to go back to basics today. Food contains all kinds of things that were not in products years ago. The chemicals used to grow and preserve the foods we eat are the very ones making many people sick. The research being done is by organizations that profit from the products being used. The flavors being presented are enjoyable to many. Self denial is hard for those who think they deserve to eat a slice of pie because they worked hard all week. It is equally hard for people who think because they are now retired they can relax and let someone else worry about things such as their health. People are eating foods that may make them feel good and look good but in the long run it is making them sick.

You cannot live better if you are not really eating better.

I don’t know if I am going to be raptured up before all hell breaks loose here on earth or if I have to stay here and survive with the rest of the world. But I do know there is enough problems going on right now that I have become a Prepper. Either way it is important for every person to have a general idea of what the Bible says about the end times.
I suggest every person read the Bible to see for themselves what Scripture says and add to their reading list; ANSWERS TO THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTIONS ABOUT THE END TIMES.

One of the most important questions addressed based on what is happening today is: What roll Islam plays in the end times? There is also a discussion about Israel, people always want to know what happens with the Jews.

I think this book is an excellent tool for study. Though I firmly believe each person must come to his or her own conclusions regarding such an important subject ANSWERS TO THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTIONS ABOUT THE END TIMES by Dr. John Hart is well worth the purchase.

The twelve chapters are broken down into unique studies that could be used for group study.  Its’ 189 pages are easy to read. I appreciate the numerous Scriptural references that help me to follow along in the writers dissertation.

ANSWERS TO THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTIONS ABOUT THE END TIMES by Dr. John Hart is a very important book to read and I strongly recommend reading it, not just reading but using it to study.  By Marsha L F Randolph

I was going crazy, I had just finished making a wash cloth and I did not have the denim blue to complete the throw I was crocheting. I made a mini-pouch with some scratch fabric and re potted a plant that really did not need re-potting. What could I do next?

I could bake something from scratch; there was no yeast to back bread, no olive oil but lots of flour. I could go to the store and spend the last five dollars I had in the bank or read a book, I grabbed a book.

I could not concentrate on the book I kept thinking about washcloths and throws and bread making. What about soap?

I looked at the soap I had in stock. Hmmm, I had at least five bars of each of the six types of soap I made- I need to restock. What!!!!! No Olive OIl!

What do I do???? This is serious I have to make something. I need to make something.

And then my husband asked: “I need to go to Walmart. Do you want to go?”
“Yes!” I said, perhaps to eagerly as thoughts of yarn and fabric danced in my head.

In the store I played it cool. We got a few items needed for dinner and the two things he wanted and then…
“Were you going to get anything?” he asked.
“Well,” I responded softly “since we are here I wanted to look at the yarn. I don’t have a project to do.”
“Go get your yarn.” He gallantly responded. My hero!
I purchased enough yarn to make at least two wash cloths. I looked at fabric but did not see anything I liked. I went home but was not content.
After starting the washcloth I decided to go to the fabric store “just to look”. The clearance section was an additional 50% off and so I purchased more fabric. Did I mention I had purchased yeast while at Walmart.
I also purchased a plant at Home Depot that needed to be transplanted.

Life is as it should be, I have projects waiting to be completed. My name is Nettie and I am a craft-a-holic.

Exodus 6:2-3
And God spoke to Moses and said to him: I am the Lord. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name Lord I was not known to them.

The term lord means: the one with authority; thus a landlord has authority over the home a person rents. God says He is Lord: God is the One with authority.

What He tells Moses in Exodus 6:3 is that people knew that He was El Shaddai - God Almighty- an indication of His power but they did not fully comprehend His authority. Thus, what the children of Israel are learning as they prepare to go into the ‘promised land’ is the power and authority of God.

It is often good to go back to the original language of the Bible, Greek, Aramaic and Hebrew to distinguish the essence of a word used. Everyone has a ‘god’ there are people who declare they are god and in the days of the Bible there were those who submitted to many different gods. There is only one El Shaddai- God Almighty, and there is no god like Jehovah.

As you study Scripture you will discover the names of Jehovah describe the characteristics of Him:
Eloheem            GOD …………………..(Genesis 1)
El-Shaddai         GOD ALMIGHTY……. (Exodus 6:3, Genesis 17:1)
Jehovah            LORD ………………..(Genesis 2, Genesis 6:3)
Jehovah-Shammah    HEARS …………….(Genesis 21:17)
Jehovah-Jireh      PROVIDER ………(Genesis 22:8)
Jehovah-Raphah     HEALER………….. (Jeremiah 30:17)
Jehovah-Nissi      VICTORY…………. (Isaiah 25:8)
Jehovah-Shalom     PEACE ……………….(Isaiah 45:7)
Jehovah-Tsidkenu   RIGHTEOUSNESS …….(Psalm 4:1)
Jehovah-Rohi       SHEPHERD ……..(Psalm 23:1)
Adonai             LORD  ………………(Deuteronomy 10:17)
Abba               FATHER ……………(Mark 14:36; Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:6)

It is grievous to see how many so called Christians are declaring “we serve the same God” when discussing Islam and Christianity. We do not!

One of the reasons why I am making the transition from saying God to saying Jehovah is so that there will be no confusion as to who I am submitted to.
Has the United States of America become a modern day Egypt? Are church leaders modern day Pharisees? It does not matter, God will judge each home, He is a jealous God and will not recognize those who think He will coexist with another god.

Exodus 12:12
For I will pass through the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment. I am the Lord.

Today I am sitting on the front porch of one of the oldest women I know, her name is Geraldine Vaassur. It is an earned privilege to a select few to call the 97 year old widowed mother of seven ‘Ma Gee’. Ma Gee’s home is a hidden from the road by fruit trees which are surrounded by evergreen trees to prevent unwanted visitors. However, there are four very healthy dogs that protect both person and property just in case someone might dares to come up the two lane path curved road that leads to her front porch. All you really see from the front porch is nature.

Today was a quiet day. I often come by to help her in work in the garden or can fruits and vegetables- though Ma Gee is a lot faster than I at doing what needs to be done.  On canning days the house is full of women who call her Ma Gee as well as daughters.  This was a day in which it was just the two of us sitting on the front porch listening to the “sounds of life” as she calls it.

After about an hour or two of watching her dogs chase the birds and squirrels, and seeing the trees sway to and fro she pulled out her Bible, this was my cue to prepare the lunch I had brought from home.

“This world is too stressed, Nettie.”  She began, as I set up the place where we would eat. After placing the food in the oven to be heated, no microwaves in her house or mine either for that matter, I turned my attention to unfolding the table. There was a table made by her late husband that was folded behind the chair I sat in; it was big enough for two people to place their plates on.  I spread the table cloth over the well kept table and arranged the eating utensils and napkins, cloth of course, in their proper place. Ma Gee did not allow paper plates in her home no matter how many guest she expected. As I was putting the pot-roast and mashed potatoes both smothered in gravy on the plate, Ma Gee entered the kitchen.

She always had a pitcher of fruit punch in the refrigerator and she always poured the glass; presentation was everything to her. By the time I had sliced a few tomatoes that came from her garden on to the plates and was ready to carry them to the porch she had topped off the glasses with slices of apple. It was a feast fit for queens. Ma Gee prayed over our meal and we began eating.

“Of all the people who come and visit me, you are the only one who will come and just sit.” She said breaking the silence.

“That’s because..” I began but she interrupted.

“I know why you do it child, I know that you enjoying learning from me.  I also know that if you were not here you would be doing something else.  The older we get the more valuable our time becomes and some people see what we are doing as doing nothing.”

“True Ma Gee I do enjoy learning from you but I also know it is important to refresh your mind and the only way you can do this is by listening. People don’t listen anymore.”

“No they don’t. Which is why I don’t watch a lot of news.

Again there was silence as we both finished our meal and watched the birds. That was my day.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God might be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

I know people who cannot remember a time when they did not go to church, as an infant with their parents and as parents themselves with their children. I also know regular church goers who do not know if hell is real or if Jesus was born of a virgin.
People don’t know, are not sure, have heard but never determined for themselves because they do not study Scripture.  There are people who accept the teaching that sprinkling water over your body is what it means to be baptized and others who believe you cannot enter heaven if your entire body was not immersed in water. Many people I know do not believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, for the record I do. Most of the people today who identify themselves as Christian do not study the Bible.

Church attenders adhere to the teachings of the church leader.  There is a growing number of church leaders reinterpreting Scripture to reflect liberal philosophies and political correctness, justifying there actions through the manipulation of Scripture which the people do not study for themselves. The result of so many people being ignorant of what is actually written is: those who call themselves Christian no longer believe that the words from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 are all God inspired, God determined and very relevant.

The Bible, all of it, should be the basis of church philosophy: its’ “Statement of Faith” and associated doctrines taught to it’s members. However, those who sit under the teachings of various ministries and call himself a Christian are personally responsible for the information accepted.

2 Peter 1:20
“knowing this first, no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for the prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”

Scripture is the basis for living therefore it is the guidelines for what to do and not to do and how God wants His children to behave. When a man or woman stands before a congregation and says, ‘There is nothing wrong with homosexuality,’ for example, they are not speaking God’s word (which is what prophecy is) they are releasing their own interpretation. Each individual has to have personal knowledge of what God’s will is which is found in His word.

The reason we need to study the Bible is because there is so much false teachings out there that a person can sit in a church for years and not know he is being taught a lie.

Mark 7:9,13
“He said to them, “All to well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition,”… “making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.””

People who live a comfortable life and do all the ‘Christiandom’ things that they think are appropriate based on what their Church Leader teaches believe their faith is strong. Unfortunately, they do not realize how they fail daily to trust Scripture. By accepting same-gender marriages, abortions and being politically correct they are going against the Word. By submitting to rules and regulations because of their job that teach you cannot talk about being a Christian at the workplace a person is ignoring a commandment and biblical principle.

Matthew 10:33
Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

There are no exception clauses to God’s guidelines, aka commandments. People say: There is a time and place for everything and then put God in a Sunday morning box. Faith in God through Jesus is a twenty-four hour seven day a week activity and our life must reflect that.

2 Timothy 2:15 King James Version
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Bible Study is not reading the Bible from Genesis to Revelation in a year, though doing so is a good thing. Every time a person reads the Bible all the way through he learns more. Studying Scripture helps the reader get to know God better, it is how we see how much He loves His creations. It will also help a person determine if the church he is so dedicated to is really feeding his spirit or just providing a traditional weekly activity.

Acts 17:23-28
“For as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this description: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you; God who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with man’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath and all things. And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they may grope for Him and find Him; though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said. “For we are also His offspring.

If you have ten dollars in your pocket and no food in your refrigerator you might be tempted to run to Burger King and order from the value meal menu. For ten dollars you can make:  baked chicken, which is usually less than $5 a pound; corn, a can will be around $1; rice, a small pack will be about $2 maximum, and maybe have left overs for the next days’ lunch. This meal may not look as appealing as something served at a five star restaurant and definitely takes time to prepare but it is a lot healthier than fast food and actually saves money in the long run. It is all about planning your meals and thinking about the consequences of your actions.

A few of my northern neighbors recently went into panic mode because of an upcoming tropical storm that had the potential of becoming a hurricane. They were doing what I constantly warn people about not doing which is the direct result of not being prepared for emergencies: they were trying to get the funds together to purchase emergency supplies. Last minute preparations are a budget buster.

The fact that you have very little, if any, money set aside for emergencies is the very reason why you should be preparing for emergencies in advance, a.k.a. prepping. Unfortunately, many people have an “I deserve this now” mindset and sacrifice future needs for current wants. Once upon a time people made sure the basics were taken care of before splurging on things like: vacations, new clothes, deserts, manicures, pedicures, and so forth.

When grocery shopping, there is very little difference in most shoppers other than where their funds come from- either a pay check or a government assistance check. People with jobs like to spurge on prepackaged foods which may seem cheaper but because they are single serving sized are actually more expensive. Those who receive government assistance do not fully appreciate the need to buy extra and save it, because they have a survive today mentality.  When a store advertises “Buy One-Get One Free” it is an opportunity for everyone to stock up.  Non-perishables are just that- items that have a long shelf life and therefore will not go bad, perish. They are always on sale.

The grocery store near me often has Lipton Tea bags on sale- buy one get one free. Each box has one hundred tea bags. I prefer Earl Grey tea and rarely drink Lipton’s. I purchase the Tea, it is something that will get used eventually and if I want something hot or cold to drink I can make tea.  That is how you have to think about shopping: What are the benefits of this purchase.

It is not that you are to poor to be a Prepper because rich people do not prepare either. Many people just don’t want to think about a possible emergency, they will put it off for another day.

When my husband told me that there might be a hurricane coming our way neither one of us were concerned. We have plenty of non-perishable items and the things that are perishable we can cook in our propane and charcoal grill or our fireplace, before they would go bad. We have more than enough water for the two of us with some to share, We also have alternative lighting and a way to charge the cell phones in case the electricity goes out. We are ready because I did little things here and there, purchasing canned goods and other things when I went shopping that were on sale. Fortunately, for us, the storm went north towards my friends home. Had it come, the only thing my husband would have done was top off the gas tanks in both cars.

Something is always on sale. If you live in an area where there are harsh winters you know that winter is coming. Start buying “stuck home because of the snow” supplies little by little as things go on sale now. You can even purchase the ingredients to make your own junk food so that when everyone else is running to the store you are baking cookies, popping corn or reading a good book.

If you can afford a Big Mac you can afford to stock up on food.

22 FOR 22 DAY 22 MATTHEW 8:7

And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.

I have heard the dangers of aluminum found in various hygiene products for years. I have also seen how some women have darkened underarms from them. Other than stains in my shirts I did not have any problems with using any of the products, though I was not particularly fond of some of the scents. I began using homemade deodorant because my daughter did have adverse reactions to various brands and made her own; she cajoled me into trying it; I liked it.

If you are slightly interested in homemade deodorants the one need to know fact is:  It will not stop you from sweating. Sweating is good;it is how your body naturally gets rid of toxins. Using anti-perspirents may save on laundry wear but  in the long run it is bad for you. Other ingredients found in man made deodorants are just that man made and therefore its’ benefits are superficial. The naturaller you go the better!

There are several formulas a person can use with three basic ingredients: Coconut Oil, Arrowroot or Corn Starch, Baking Soda. Other ingredients such as Shea Butter and Essential Oils are optional.

Coconut Oil is the base, a fat, and is used in every formula I have seen,  It has an anti-fungal, anti-yeast and anti-bacteria properties that make it ideal for deodorant. I use it also in my hair care product, my skin moisturizer and my soap.
Arrowroot Powder, also referred to as arrowroot starch, is not always easy to find, not even my local health food store has it in stock all the time. My research has revealed that more people are choosing arrowroot powder (starch, whatever you want to call it) instead of Corn Starch. Arrowroot is definitely preferred for those who have found that baking soda is to irritating.
Corn Starch is cheaper however because of the proliferation of genetically modified organism particular corn many people are turning away from using this product even in their cooking.
Baking Soda has a high pH which makes it very alkaline this is important to your body but it is a subject that will have to be discussed later. What is important to know about Baking Soda is that it neutralizes odors.
Essential Oil are used for the scent and depending on which one you use its’ anti bacterial properties. Though a lot of formulas list it, it is optional. Most people use Teatree Oil because of its’ antibacterial properties, I use Bergamont because I have it on hand for my soap and it has similar characteristics.

There are a lot of YouTube videos on how to make deodorant. In addition you need to gather a receptacle to keep your deodorant in. Since the quantity is small it does not need to be something large. Some people recycle the container their store bought deodorant came in, I choose to use a small wide lid container. Remember to mix your ingredients well. Coconut oil melts at 76 degrees but once placed in the refrigerator will retain its solid state.

I live in tropical weather and have been using homemade deodorant for quite some time- no one has complained yet, not even my husband.

22 FOR 22 DAY 21 ISAIAH 53:5

Before the veterans were even born Jesus endured 39 stripes so that they would be healed- physically and emotionally.

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

Thank You Lord for the finished work of the cross and the healing of our veterans.

John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Either you believe God’s word or you don’t- that is sometimes easier said than done. It takes focus to develop a calm when it looks like it is time to panic.

Mark 4:39
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

Here is what you have to know at all times, Jesus can stop any storm.

The story found in Mark chapter four verses 35-39 is of the disciples in a boat with sleeping Jesus. As they were going from one place to another a storm came, apparently a very big storm because the disciples panicked. “Teacher” they cried out “do you not care that we are perishing.” The fact that Jesus was sleeping was as if He was saying: “Whatever! No big deal.” But He awakened, silenced the storm, no big deal.

Here is what many people forget when times gets really bad Jesus has already stopped the storm. In John chapter 14 verse 27 He said He has given us a peace that is not like the peace that the world has. A Believer in the word does not have to panic- it’s no big deal!

Isaiah 26:3
You will keep Him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trust in You.

This is the key: You have to keep looking at Jesus no matter what. You must remember God’s word, His promises, regardless of the circumstances. But if you do loose focus just call Him:

Romans 8:15
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba Father.”

22 FOR 22 DAY 20 JEREMIAH 30:17

For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds; says the Lord, because they called you an outcast saying: “This is Zion; no one seeks her.”

Father God I thank You for restoration. I thank You Lord for healing the hidden wounds of suicide found in far to many veterans.

Moses was forty when he started living in the wilderness, he was eighty when he led the people out of Egypt to go to the promised land, he climbed up a mountain to die when he was 120 years old. You cannot be born in a shack, be raised in the palace, wander in the desert, walk in the wilderness and die on a mountain if you are stuck in your ways.

Moses had to keep changing. Rightly or wrongly he responded to what was going on; killing the man was wrong (Exodus 2:11-12), helping the women was right (Exodus 2:16-17), he learned as he lived. He was born a Hebrew and should have been killed at birth but he was adopted and raised by an Egyptian princes. He left the palace and became a shepherd and then became a leader of the Hebrews, people he barely knew. He could have stayed in the palace.

Like Moses, we have all determined the extent of what we are willing to do, what we are going to do and behave accordingly. Unlike Moses many people will not go all the way, they stay in the palace where it is comfortable.

People will work a job they hate because of the benefits and the predictability of it all.
People will stay in a church because it is where their family attends though they really do not “get” anything out of the service, no spiritual growth. People will not make an effort to improve their marriage because they have learned to co-exist.
People will not move even though they do not like the community they are in again because they are comfortable where they are.

Change requires effort and appreciating the unknowns of something new. Every time Moses changed his environment he became a better person. All of his experiences helped him to fulfill his ultimate purpose: to lead God’s children out of bondage. Many people are afraid of change and therefore resist it.

I believe the key to being as successful as Moses was is to trust God, that is what I am doing more and more everyday.   XXX

22 FOR 22 DAY 19 MARK 3:14-15

MARK 3:14-15
Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach and to have power to heal sickness and to cast out demons

Father God I come to You in the name of Jesus know that I am not the only one standing in the gap for America’s veterans. We through word and deed (prayer and activity) stand in the gap against suicide.
I believe the power of unity has healed these veterans and we shall see the elimination of PTSD and the healing of men and women who once had no hope.

I thank You Father for the angels You have sent to rescue Your children.
I thank You Father for equipping servants who volunteer to help meet the needs of veterans.
In the name of Jesus I pray. AMEN.

22 FOR 22 DAY 18 MATTHEW 10:8

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

I speak as a child of God in the name of Jesus and declare the words of Jesus as written in Matthew 10:8. The sick are healed, diseases are cleaned, the dead are alive and demons are impotent.
Let these words cross the airwaves and be planted in the souls of those veterans who are considering suicide:
YOU ARE HEALED, in the name of Jesus. YOU ARE HEALED.
Every demonic voice that speaks to you about suicide is silenced. Devil you must leave the body of these veterans now. Not because of what I say but because of what God says and because Jesus gave His followers authority to cast you out.  Spirit of suicide, depression and confusion leave the minds of these veterans now.
Father God let laborers come forth to minister to Your children so that they may know the truth and see the manifestation of Your joy. In Jesus name I pray. AMEN.

My life is not perfect, not by any stretch of the imagination and I am not as smart as some people think I am and other people say that I think I am. I have just experienced a lot and seen even more. What I have not been through myself, watched people go through, people sit here on my front porch and tell me they been through it, I have read about. Information is everywhere, that includes what you need to know about life. Of course, my first source of information is Scripture.

I have reached a level in my life, my journey is what I call it, in which I trust God more than I trust myself and so I have peace about most things. My faith gives me two things: wisdom and common sense; that’s important.

On this day, I visited a few people one I knew personally the other the Pastor asked if I could stop by the house.

Let’s call person number one “Joe.”  I am changing his name to protect his innocent children. Nobody wants a foolish daddy! Now Joe had been having financial problems for quite a while, I know this because his wife always complains to me about it. Joe owns a restaurant and he is about to loose it and his wife. So, I went to his restaurant to see if things were as bad as “Irene” said.

The place was empty and it was lunch time.

“Hey” I said as I walked in to no one in particular. “Is Joe around.”
“Hi Miss Nettie! Mr. Joe is in his office I will go get him.” Often people know me and I don’t remember who they are. I am sure this young lady had been to my house before, I honestly just can’t remember her name. She left the front to get Joe.
“Hi Miss Nettie, what can I get you? Andrea didn’t take your order?”
“I didn’t order anything Joe but” turning to Andrea, one of my daughter’s child hood friends, I ordered. “A salad and a strawberry lemonade if you have it.”
“If we don’t I will make you one Miss Nettie” she smiled and left the room again.

Joe sat down next to me with an obviously fake smile. The stress on his brow was very defined and his eyes looked as if they had not been closed in weeks.
“It is obvious Joe that business is terrible.” I started, not giving him a chance to make small talk.
“I don’t want to talk about this right now. How are you and Mr. Chip doing?
“You need to talk about it Joe. If this is what the restaurant looks like at the peak of lunch hour you cannot be making much money and not making money means you are loosing money and if you are loosing money …”
“I know all that Ms. Nettie! Quite frankly it is none of your business.”
“Joe, you are absolutely right. I came because it is clear to the people around you that things are not good with you and your wife. When rumors reach me I either ignore them or go to the sources and see what is going on. Well here I am.
“Now, I can’t help you but I know people who can.”
Again he interrupted me. “Miss Nettie I am trying not to be disrespectful but you are putting your nose in my business. As a man I will fix this, it is…”
“Even men need help Joe, the angels ministered to Jesus.” This time I interrupted.
“This is not your problem!”
“Are the rumors about your marriage true?” He started to interrupt again but I would not let him. “Don’t say anything, I happen to know that they are. Everyone knows your wife left you before. And now you do not have time to be with your family because you are trying to make a go of a business you know very little about.
“I know this is not my business but I hate to see people struggle when they don’t have to. I know people who can help you by either purchasing this business or helping you manage it.”
“I have people helping me.”
“It’s lunch hour Joe and the place is empty. Apparently, you do not do any better during dinner time. You don’t serve alcohol, which is how most restaurants make money so it does not take a genius to know you are loosing money fast.”
Andrea brought my drink and salad. “Can you make that to go please?”
“Look, I have to much on my mind right now. It is just me, the person cooking and Andrea working every day. I just don’t have time to deal with that right now. When things pick up, maybe. I appreciate your concern but like I told Irene things are going to get better.”
As Andrea brought my food to go with the bill I stood up handing her forty dollars- way more than what the bill was and began walking towards the door. There was nothing left to say so I said nothing. You cannot help a person who does not want to be helped.
Irene, Joe’s wife, had called him that morning and told him she was leaving. I was in her home when she made that call and pleaded with her to wait, for the children’s sake, for me to try and talk to her husband. She agreed to stay if I could convince her husband to get someone who knew about running a business to help him she would stay, despite her knowledge he would not let her help. By the time Joe got home his wife and children would be gone in a home set up by another man.

As I I drove to my next destination I enjoyed the fresh lemonade with strawberries. Maybell, was a referral from a hospital to the Pastor who served as a voluntary chaplain for hospice patients. Maybell had been diagnosed with final stage breast cancer and decided to go home rather than a treatment facility. Her family thought it would be better for her to go into a hospital because her condition was progressively getting worst and her pain was difficult to manage.

The nurse opened the door and instantly I was hit with an awful smell. After brief introductions I was taken to the dining room which was now where Maybell’s hospital bed and other necessities were. She was sitting up and smiled briefly as I introduced myself.
“She just got something for pain,” the nurse was saying “she may go to sleep.” I smiled as she walked away.
“Good afternoon Maybell, my name is Nettie. Pastor asked me to come by and visit with you today. He has not told me a lot about you, just that you are in hospice care.”
“Yea, I got cancer.”  She said, her voice weak but audible.
“You have end stage cancer.”
“God is going to heal me.”
“Why do you think God is going to heal you?”
“Because I asked Him.”
“When did you ask him?”
“When did you ask God to heal you?”
“When the doctor told me I had cancer. What kind of question is that?!!”
“Well Maybell, I believe God heals, Jesus endured 39 stripes so that we are healed not going to be. I just want to know when did you started praying?”

Hearing the excitement in her patient’s voice the nurse had entered the room to see what was going on but remained silent.

“He told me about two years ago.”
“Oh, so after you had the mastectomy, the chemotherapy and radiation treatments you started praying? Or were you praying while you were receiving treatment?”
“No, I wasn’t going to let them cut my breast off. The Bible says if I ask anything I could have it and I want my breast!” Maybell, clearly angry, started coughing.
“I didn’t come to make you angry however I like to know what to pray when I pray for people. It’s good that you believe God will heal you. Is there anything you need from the store? Is there any food that they don’t fix for you that you would like to have?”
The thought of an expensive meal seemed to perk her up. “I haven’t had a decent steak in a long time. I was just thinking I would like to have some steak and some shrimp! But it is too expensive. Do you think you could get that for me?”

“Of course I can! Do you want it for your dinner today or tomorrow?”

“Can you bring it buy for my lunch tomorrow? About this time.”

“I will not be bringing it but I am going to have Pastor bring it when he comes and visits. He is near Samuels’ and can pick it up on his way.”

“Samuels’ is expensive. I have never been there before but I heard of it. Can Pastor afford that?”

“He is not going to pay for it I am. I have stayed long enough let me pray for you and you can get some rest.” I did a quick prayer that the Lord would give her peace and wisdom and left.

As I drove home I talked to the Lord about Joe and Maybell. Sometimes God sends life-rafts to people and they don’t see it because they are stuck in their own understanding.

Irene had left Joe before but Pastor had encouraged her to come back because of the children. Unfortunately, Joe thought the best way to keep his wife was to make more money and it seemed smart to open a restaurant, though he was pretty good at managing he was lousy at marketing. He struggled. Joe refused to ask his wife, who worked from home as a Social Media Manager, to help him promote his business.  One of her clients owned a restaurant in a neighboring community had hired his wife and over the years his business grew partly because of her efforts as did their relationship. When she decided to move her client found her and the children a place to stay and covered the expenses associated with it. Joe was loosing everything because Joe thought being a man meant you could not hear what a woman had to say.

I had made arrangements for Maybell to have her steak dinner with Apple Pie from a nearby bakery and ice cream from a local farm that made natural ice cream. It was delivered by the Pastor and he and her five children, her grandchildren, and a few other family members had a great visit as I was told. She couldn’t really eat any of the food but the nurse, put the food on her tongue so that she could at least taste it and then removed it so she would not choke; even the ice cream could not be swallowed. According to Pastor that was the last time she was awake, an hour after the meal was presented to her she went to sleep, twenty four hours later she died.

Maybell did not have to die. She chose to hold on to her breast with the cancerous cells in them than have to wear a prosthetic one. She refused treatment because of the side-effects: nausea, vomiting, hair loss and so forth. She chose to believe Scripture. Unfortunately Maybell believed the doctors more than she believed God’s word and she behaved accordingly. Her faith, like many of us, was tainted by fear and she really did not believe her own words- “God is going to heal me.”

When I came home after those two visits Chip, my husband, was sitting in my chair on the front porch. He knew what I had planned on doing and had predicted the outcome that I received; he too had days like this.

Chip and I have seen a lot of our own ups and downs, success and failure, we try to warn people, help people and pray for people whenever we can. More people do not listen than do listen I have learned to help those I can whenever I can even if it means just buying an expensive meal that I know they can’t eat.

22 FOR 22 DAY 17 1 PETR 2:24

1 PETER 2:24
Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we having died to sins, might live in righteousness- by whose stripes you are healed.

Father God I come to You in the name of Jesus praying on behalf of men and women who  do not know Your truth. Send laborers that can help them, support them and give them the encouragement they need. I thank You that hope is restored in their lives and they are made whole once again.
I thank You Father that they are healed from the top of their heads to the souls of their feet. AMEN

22 FOR 22 DAY 16 JEREMIAH 17:14

Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for You are my praise.

Father God I come to You in the name of Jesus asking You to hear the cries of those who are right now in distress. There are men and women who submitted to the guidelines of this land and served in the military only to return home distressed. The government cannot do what You can do and that is to make them whole. Thank You for saving Your children out of the pit.  AMEN.

As I approached the library there was a large gathering of people handing out information for voters. It was not my intent to vote on that particular day and as a rule I ignore the solicitors that hover in the allotted campaign area. However, I was not in a hurry, as I approached the crowd I yelled: “I am not voting today but I am a Trump supporter and will only vote for those who support Donald Trump.” Most of the people walked away from me; you should have seen the look the few African-Americans, who were working the polls gave me.  LOL!
I spoke with a gentleman running for Mayor, the wife of a candidate and a few other  people. Inside the library I researched the positions of candidates seeking judgeship and the proposed Amendment that I needed to vote \7for. By the time I finished researching, I was comfortable with what my vote should be.
After looking at the position papers of the various candidates and developing a deeper understanding of the one Amendment on the ballot, I voted.
I thought about who was on the ballot, it was no surprise that most of the new people running for office were not Black. For far to long Liberals have lied to people of color about the reasons they cannot succeed and they have accepted what was said. Education is not a priority, entrepreneurship is not appreciated and any type of services is not encouraged; only career politicians remain in office, elected over and over again by people who do not study the issues.  Black Lives Matter is the poster child for what happens when you believe liberal ideology and avoid common sense.
It is time everyone take the time to research what is going on in the nation and in their community. I pray everyone takes the time to be an educated voter, voting for what is good for the nation and not because of someones’ skin color or political affiliation. #AllLivesMatter

22 FOR 22 DAY 15 ISAIAH 57:18-19

ISAIAH 57:18-19
I have seen his ways, and will heal him; and restore comforts to him and to his mourners.
“I create the fruit of the lips: peace, peace to him who is far off and to him who is near.” Says the Lord, “And I will heal him.”

Lord Jesus You said that no man can come to the Father except by Me (John 14:6). I come to the Father in the name of Jesus on behalf of veterans who are bound by thoughts of suicide. It is also written that You, Lord, intercede (Romans 8:34)on behalf of the children of Father God. It is my prayers to the Father through You that I speak as a scribe.
I pray that You will remember Your words of healing and touch those who are contemplating ending their life. Let the healing manifest now Lord, let Your peace that passes understanding infuse their souls so that the ashes they have been living in will become beauty and the pain will go away. Thank You Lord for healing those who need to be made whole.

22 FOR 22 DAY 11: PSALM 23:4

Psalm 23:4
Yea,though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Father God only You know the horrors that these men and women who served in the military experienced. Only You can guide them through the shadow of death and stop them from committing suicide. I ask in the name of Jesus that You take Your rod and Your staff and comfort veterans. AMEN
