I will take my place at the watchtower. I will stand at my post and watch.
I will watch and see what He says to me. I need to think about how I should respond to Him when He gets back to me with His answer.

Maintaining your position of faith is difficult when those around you are living a different less restrictive lifestyle. Though you want to live on purpose for a purpose the opportunity to deviate from your plan is ever present. Today, it is more important than ever that you learn to stand your position of faith in Father God through His Son Jesus and watch, because Satan has rallied his troops and they are attacking with everything they have.

1 John 2:16
For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.
Sometimes it is best not to share with people what you are doing and why you are doing it. Everyone has an opinion as to how you should live your life but God knows what you need to do.

Satan’s agenda is to appeal to your personal desires and then convince you that what you have is not enough.  God wants you to have good things even though your desire is a personal relationship with Him.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

God’s plan for your life is greater than anything anyone can present to you and better than your own plans. It takes discipline to not allow the things of this world to distract you from doing things God’s way.

LUKE 21:36 NIV
Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

It is important to develop a watchman mentality. Do not react to events without thinking first. (As I write I remind myself of this necessity!) Standing your ground is harder today than it was when followers of Christ were respected; today Christians are hated. Far to many churches have compromised the word of God in order to not offend non-believers. Watch what is happening, pray about how you should respond, and do not deviate from God’s word; having done this stand.

That is why you need to [L- For this reason,] put on God’s full armor. Then on the day of evil [C- persecution generally or end-time tribulation] you will be able to ·stand strong [keep your ground; resist the enemy]. And ·when you have finished the whole fight [L- after you have done/accomplished everything], you will still be standing.

The position of Christians today should be that of a watchman on the wall: one who maintains a position of seeing all that is around him and that which is coming.  She should not be distracted from what is going on in the world no matter how many ‘expert’ reports are presented. God’s word is the armor that Believers wear which allows them to stand

Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.

Our bodies speak to us. Our stomach will growl when we are hungry; it is hard to keep our eyes open or focus on a task when we are tired; both are indications of a physical need. When something is our out of order our body tells us: elevated temperatures are a clue that something is not right within one of the body systems; pain reveals that something is broken, out of place, or inflamed.  There are many symptoms, clues, that something is not right; these clues are what doctors use when trying to determine what is wrong with you, unfortunately they don’t always get it right.

I was watching a ROKU yoga channel one day and the instructor was encouraging the participants to listen to their body. Excellent advice. Instead of telling your friends and family about your aches and pains listen to your body and make the necessary practical adjustments. There will be times when you will have to seek medical advice but more often than not you need to just stop doing what you were doing and do what you should be doing- eating right, exercise, and rest.

Doctors don’t cure, they treat symptoms based on what they were taught in school. Although there is a growing number of doctors who are incorporating holistic ideas to health care they are few and far between. Not all vitamins and supplements are created equal and it is better to eat and drink what your body needs in its God created form.

Taking care of your body is better for if you wish to live long and prosper. One of the unintended consequences of modern technology and modern medicine is the ease in which one can allow another person to take control of his medical needs verses learning what is needed to maintain good health. No one has to think if they don’t want to but those who apply common sense to their lifestyle seem to be happier and healthier.

The problem is man cannot outsmart God there is only so much a person can do. At some point people begin taking pills to help them take the pills the doctor prescribed; they have surgery to correct the surgery the physician performed. People gain back the weight they lost, even plastic surgery does not last forever. Prevention is the best cure and natural correction is the best way to address your health.

There has to be a balance, incorporate the knowledge man has achieved over the years with the wisdom of common sense. Get to know your body.  You should know what your normal blood pressure is and what your normal body temperature is. Are you a morning person, an afternoon person or a late night person; no need of doing something in the morning if you prefer late nights!  Examine your diet and balance it out, don’t force yourself to eat what you hate, there are alternative foods to get the same nutritional intake. The goal is to establish a lifestyle that reflects you.

When I state that “man cannot outsmart God” I am implying that He, God, has given us internal signals to diagnose a problem and there are quite a few natural remedies.  The side effects of vaccines, prescription drugs and even processed foods vary from person to person which is why it is important that you get to know your body.

Let today be the day you start to take control of your body. NO, I am not suggesting you stop taking your medicines but I am suggesting that you learn the side effects of them. Begin by evaluating your lifestyle and start correcting one thing.      xxx Marsha L F Randolph

I am not great at sewing. I started taking sewing seriously around 1996 when my husband purchased me a sewing machine and I started driving my friend Ruth to the different sewing stores. Prior to that I had not sewn since high school (1977). That is twenty years of sewing off and on but I can sew.

Since I have determined that I need to do as much for myself as possible, sewing my own clothing came to the forefront of my to do list, that and the fact that I hated what was in the stores.

With the rebirth of my sewing activities I took a step back to discover what worked for me. As with everything else I don’t need fancy things thus what I had was what I needed. My basics are the tools that every sewer has and needs.

SCISSORS- You have to have a good pair of scissors that are ONLY to be used for cutting fabric. Don’t even cut a strip of paper one time with your sewing scissors. Dull scissors can mess up fabric.

MEASURING TAPE- You could guess at the length but then you would have poorly fitting projects. Accurate measurements are key; the reason manufactured patterns have to be adjusted is because your body is not created the same as anyone else’s.
When a sales person cuts a 9 and 1/4 yard of fabric instead of a 9 and 3/8 piece of fabric that you need that one-eighth of a yard (particularly if there is an obvious pattern) will make the world of difference in your garment.

SEAM RIPPER - I am not perfect therefore I make mistakes. It is easy to pull seams out when you sew something by hand but the struggle is real when it comes to undoing a machine sewn stitch. The seam ripper makes a tedious activity faster and easier.

SEAM GAUGE- another measuring tools though you could do without it I find it is easier to use when measuring hems and double checking your work. The marker on the instrument serves as an indicator of where you want the seam, or hem to be exactly. It may not be a ‘must have’ but it is a ‘should get’.

PINS & NEEDLES - Both items are fabric dependent, meaning the type of pin you use to hold fabric in place and the type of needle you use to sew them together varies with different material. A sewing needle strong enough to penetrate the denim will leave holes in satin perhaps not seen by the untrained eye).

THREAD SNIPPER- Now these are not a ‘must have’ but I started using these special type of scissors in 2016 and I love them! Most sewing machines have a thread cutter however, since I purchased the thread snipper I use it. It is great for cleaning up your sewing projects, cutting those loose threads you see.

THREAD- I keep basic colors black, white, blue and brown on hand for hand sewing needs. It is always a good idea to purchase thread and other accessories when you purchase your fabric. There are various types of thread depending on what you are making, I usually purchase All-purpose thread since I have no idea of what the various nuances are of each thread type.
I don’t remember there being any other thread company but Coats & Clark when I first started sewing, in the 70’s. Though more expensive I am gradually making the transition to Gutermann brand, I have less problems when sewing with this particular brand.
With thread, size does matter. If you can afford it buy the larger spools of your basic color- black, white, and whatever is the predominant color of your household’s wardrobe.

BOBBINS- Your sewing machine should have come with a few. After you have sewn awhile you will determine how often you change colors and if you have to take thread off of a bobbin to put the color you are using on. When they go on sale get a few, they do make bobbins with thread already on it but I doubt if the color will match the color you are using.

FABRIC- My first sewing project was with a solid colored gabardine. Your first time out you do not want to work with anything stretchy or with patterns. Until you get comfortable with pattern terminology and how fabrics present themselves on your body try not to let your first project require you purchasing more than the basics in thread, pins and machine needles.

TAILORS CHALK  & TRACING PAPER-  You will need both eventually. As a beginner, if you are working with patterns the tracing paper will help with the markers you will have to transfer from the pattern to the fabric. Now that I am making my own patterns I find the tailors’ chalk is used more often.

With any of the tools remember more expensive is not always better. If you watch my video you will find that I am currently using an inexpensive pair of scissors but will upgrade to Fiskars eventually. In addition, the inexpensive sewing machine I purchased as a gift is another purchase I will get for myself, eventually.

THE SEWING MACHINE- I purchased for my friend a BROTHER 17 stitch JX2517, it sews very well. She has had it for more than six months and she loves it. Though I don’t need one I am going to purchase myself one as a traveling machine. I purchased it on sale for $70 plus tax.

PATTERNS- I am so done with patterns! When I first purchased patterns it was one size per pack now it is multiple sizes. This is actually a good thing if you know how to adjust a pattern to fit your body but, as a beginner, if you are going to cut the actual size it can become frustrating. Most patter companies have indications of the complexity of the pattern look for ‘easy’ or ‘beginner’ and do not become frustrated if the pattern says you can make it in one hour but it is taking you 4 hours or more.

Sewing for me is fun. When it stops being fun I stop sewing, I resume when I remember how blessed I am to own 3 machines and paid for none. There was a time when I had very few maxi skirts to wear and now I have plenty- because I can make my own.

You have to find your own motivation for sewing, work on projects that give you joy. I have a friend that makes and sells pillows, another that makes and sells draperies, and yet another that makes her own clothing but embroiders for others we all sew because we like it not because we have to. Just remember when you begin sewing: T.E.A.

THINK before you cut- make sure it is the right size, right direction, patterns match and the correct side of the fabric.
EVALUATE before you sew- many of my mistakes have to do with seam allowances and sewing pieces together in the wrong order. It is important to consider what you are doing and in what order.
ASSESS frequently- often the best made plans have to be adjusted. The pattern may be your size but your curves can be slightly different. As you bring various pieces together determine if the seems are aligned, the patterns are not clashing and it will fit properly.

Like driving once you done it often enough you will not have to think about how to do it. xxx Marsha L. F. Randolph

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.  Philippians 2:12-13

Many believers get their theology by parroting the words of someone whose opinion they trust. I wrote “BROKEN AND NOT A$HAMED” (available in eBook format only) because after being a part of several different churches and each church leader addressing money in a different way my finances were screwed up (yes, I tithed). This book is one of the major lessons I had to teach myself.

It is important that we ‘judge’ fairly, honestly and I like to add with mercy if possible. Recently, I challenged a believer who was declaring a popular belief among Christians- we are not to judge. I asked her for scriptural references three days later she has yet to find any. We all judge: we form opinions, come to conclusions, make decisions, decide not to agree; that is judging. Jesus said: “Indeed, you will be judged by the very standards to which you hold other people.” (Matthew 7:2 The Voice). It is clear, at least to me, that He is not telling us to not judge but warning us that when we judge the same guidelines we use will be used when we are being judged.

Church leaders will share messages of tolerance without actually saying a given  behavior is un-biblical. I was shocked when a woman who ran a pro-life clinic shared with me the number of Christian women, including Pastor’s wives who were seeking abortions. Other issues that are mentioned in Scripture but not as definitive from the pulpit: homosexuality and spousal abuse. Still today, there are churches who do not speak out against drug abuse, pornography or even premarital sexual activity. When any of these ‘hot topics’ are brought over they are skimmed over to ensure service ends on a positive note.

As a Bible study teacher I was surprised at what many ‘Christians’ do not know. Recently I was talking to an individual who was twenty years older than me and had been attending church since birth but did not understand the difference between Jehovah Witnesses and Christianity.  Other Christians do not believe in heaven and hell. Far to many Christians foolishly call loved ones who die angels in heaven.

Along that same line of misrepresentation of Scripture is one of my pet peeves: the responses heard when a person dies.  We do not know who is going to heaven or who is going to hell. Even in life we do not know who is saved and who is not saved. Only God knows what a person really believes thus unless a person who says she is saved begins doing satanic things I have to believe she is a Christian.

Romans 10:9-10
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Unfortunately, every church has its’ own doctrine on how a person is saved. I personally take Romans 10 verses 9-10 literally: If a person confesses Jesus as Lord and believes God raised Him from the dead he is saved.

Some people believe that unless you have gone to seminary you cannot teach, others joke that seminary is like a cemetery not teaching the truth. I find it discouraging that many people are attached to the personality and not the message. There is so much confusion in the body of Christ.

The eBooks that I write are not meant to tell anyone what to think. My goal in writing as in my Bible teaching is to encourage the believer to search the Scriptures to validate what I have said or prove me wrong.  Though I share quite a few Scriptures within the context of my writing I also include a few more, as I do with my blog post. Followers of Christ should, must, study God’s word independent of what they are being taught at church.

Finally, a word on church doctrine: women preaching or not preaching; which day to have communion on, using wine or grape juice for communion; worship on Saturday or Sunday; dress codes, and baptism (who can be baptized and when)are just a few things that create friction among the body. It is important that you study your word and determine what you believe, it may be different than what the church you attend believes.

I cannot say it often enough- BUY A PRINT BIBLE. Do not depend on electronic devices or a devotional to teach you what you need to know. If someone tells you something about Christianity ask them what verse are they quoting. Check the verse in question and make sure it is being discussed in context. Xxx Marsha L F Randolph

No Political Affiliation: M L King & BLACK HISTORY MONTH

I started a lengthy response to a Facebook post and decided it would be best shared on a Blog. I had no intention of writing anything about Martin Luther King Jr. holiday but here it is.

My opinion of The Martin Luther King Jr holiday is the same as for Black History Month- The very people it was established to represent have absolutely no clue, and could really care less, about the significance of either.

Most people can only quote part of the I HAVE A DREAM speech and have no knowledge of why it is significant; many are not familiar with any of his other speeches or they he spoke them from the pulpit. If you ever walk down any of the numerous Martin Luther King BLVDs you will see unkempt streets and destroyed communities - there is no honor to the one the street was named after. For some MLK day is a time to enjoy a 3 day weekend, party, and / or watch a family member participate in a parade.

Very few people of color know their own family history. During Black History Month public schools present a selective amount of history, a history that today is being manipulated and key individuals being eliminated from the books.   As of March 1 most stop thinking about Black history.

This year, as we prepare to inaugurate our 45th President, American Negroes from the current President of the United States of America, the Black Congressional Caucus, various celebrities and athletes who are Negro Americans, Black Lives Matter, and even non-Negro individuals, have behaved, are behaving in the most juvenile disrespectful way because they do not like the way the system works. Their foolishness is a discredit to the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. And a slap in the face to the thousands of men and women of color who endured hardship so that we would live a better life. The history of the American Negro is one of faith and endurance not that of promoting hate and destruction.

America had a Black president, Barrack Hussein Obama, and the record will show that he did absolutely nothing to promote the accomplishments of the American Negro. What he did do was encourage abortions, celebrate homosexuality and increase his personal wealth. The Congressional Black Caucus has continued the same impotent agenda that it has had for decades,  ignoring the plight of the people they represent while it’s members individual wealth has grown. Organizations such as Black Lives Matter have done more to play into the stereotypes of Black men than any other group could have possibly done.

President Elect Donald J Trump has come forward and declared- “I see the trouble the Black Community faces and I will help.” He is not the first non-Black person to reach out to the Black community; the difference is he is offering a hand up not a hand out.

His name is Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Junior, his words reflect the gospel not this foolishness that these so called Black leaders are releasing today.  It is these individuals who have made this day and Black History Month the exercise in futility it has become.  xxx Marsha L F Randolph

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.  Psalm 37:4

Not everyone is going to see what you see. I bet everyone that was around Noah thought he was crazy; no one else tried to build an ark. I remember when Charles Payne, a FOX Business News commentator, told the story of asking his mother for a briefcase for Christmas; this was an unusual request for an eight year old black male growing up in the projects.  No one saw what Noah saw or what Charles Payne saw because they did not fully see the entire picture but Noah survived and Charles is rich.

For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.  Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.  Habakkuk 2:3-4

I have learned that not everyone likes the things that I like. That is OK because I don’t like the things they like. For example: People who talk about the two hours of exercise they did or the five miles they ran in a day compared to the ten minutes on the stationary bicycle I did in a single day do not make me jealous- I am happy for them and glad that I did something. My friends who exercise for hours or run for hours are passionate about what they do just as I get excited when I write one thousand words.

God gave me a strong desire to write and a need to create which gave me something to write about. Not everyone understands writing books that less than one thousand people read or posting blogs that don’t go viral. People cannot fully comprehend why I have notepads and notebooks as well as a lap top filled with words that no one has read but me. Everything I do is converted to words because God told me to write it.

I have a neighbor who loves to cook for other people. When I first met him he had back yard barbecues often and sold pizzas on his job. He got together with a bunch a friends to start a catering business -it failed. This gentleman did not stop cooking, a year later he started a catering business in which he could do what he wanted and he found a friend who was willing to work with him; his business is good. Though he has a full time job in addition to the catering business he is following his dream

What is your dream? Far to many people put the breaks on their dream before it even begins because friends and family discourage them. Family can be the worst when you need support, they are very good at reminding you of all of your failures. Friends may have conditional support but if they are not following their dreams they may be waiting for you to fail so they can say: I knew it.
Someone told me once: “Why are you planting tomatoes? Every time you try to grow something it fails.” The words were discouraging but I responded by saying: “Yep! And I may fail this time but I am going to try. And if I fail I will have learned something.” I love my tomatoes, they are so yummy!

On my office wall is a quote from the book “The Greatest Salesman” by Og Mandino it reads: FAILURE WILL NEVER OVERTAKE ME IF MY DETERMINATION TO SUCCEED IS STRONG ENOUGH.”

God gives us dreams often we don’t fully appreciate or understand the dream until later. Noah was told to build an ark it took a very long time but he did it, then he was told to put animals in the ark, next he and his family got in the ark; finally the ark was sealed the rain came and those who were outside of the ark died. Charles Payne did not know what the future held for him but he had a desire to get a briefcase, learn about money, create his own company and now he is on national television sharing what he knows with the world. My neighbor’s story is just beginning. My story started a while ago but it is not finished yet with every step I see a little more I understand a little more.  The vision, the dream, may not be fully understood at first but as time goes on it will begin to make sense.

Follow your dream. Xxx Marsha L F Randolph

Sometimes the news just irritates me. Over the years I have discovered that I hate watching it but I feel I do need to know what other people think- just in case they do something that forces Jesus to come sooner than planned (I write that with sarcasm).

The problem most people have is that they are loyal to an identity. Take for example the American Negro- I can talk about colored folk cause I am. They were so loyal to Obama that they ignored the obvious. He came from Chicago, by way of Hawaii and some country in the east, and the American Negro killed each other in record numbers while he was in office. All those executive orders he wrote not one said anything about raising the minimum wage though he sure talked a good game! He was talkin’ smack! You learn how to talk smack when you are gettin’ high on college campuses. (Again I write with sarcasm.) There are more things he did not do for the American Negro while he was in office but you get what I am saying.

When you watch the news during an election cycle you see how identity plays a key role in how people think. Remember the year Hillary Clinton went to a traditional ‘African-American’ church in the south and she had a southern accent as she began her speech. “I don’t feel no ways tired” She said in her best Black people voice- and they loved it! But of course her tone was different when she gave a speech in front of feminist; she spoke without an accent with self-righteous indignation. (Who cares if she and her husband don’t pay women as much as they do men.) Remember when Romney was running for President and he did not want the poor people to know he was rich? (Laugh out loud!)

I know a few homosexuals, Muslims and women who have had abortion so what I am about to write is does not apply to all ONLY THE EXTREME individuals.  The LGBT community need to go back into the closet, give themselves a time out! I do not have to endorse your behavior and if you have male genitalia you have no business in the bathroom with women. Because my church says that marriage is between a man and a woman does not stop you from living your life so move on. Homosexuality has been around for years, remember Sodom and Gomorrah? (Yep, in the end God will judge us all.)  Passing laws that say you can have a church wedding doesn’t mean I will come nor does it mean you should be disrespectful to those who do not agree with you.

OK; now I am ranting. Here is what I am trying to say in 500 words or less. Character has nothing to do with external factors. Being Black does not make you an honorable person. Being a Democrat does not make you a just individual. Your sexuality has nothing to do with your righteousness. And supporting, being loyal to, people because of who they identify with is dumb.

The LGBT community destroyed a business because the couple would not bake a same sex wedding cake; they challenged a Christian bakery not a Muslim bakery. Presumably the two were united and had a cake, it was never about the cake.

Hillary Clinton’s southern accent went away quickly as did her unrighteous anger regarding feminine issues. It was always about the vote.

I don’t know why America thought a Community Organizer who got elected in the Senate because of the push (manipulation) of others would make a leader to people of various interest. He will go down if not the worst then the most anti-America President in history (my opinion and I am not laughing.)
The one thing I do know: The Negro American repeatedly has self inflicted wounds because they are loyal to identity.  End of rant- Nettie.

It is a mundane life that I live. Despite living a ten minute drive north to high end stores and ten minutes south to low priced stores and minutes away from all things in between I don’t go there. I don’t like malls, I don’t like the latest designer products and I definitely do not like paying for over priced products that I can make myself; particularly if what I make is a lot healthier for me.
I make my own hair oil, skin moisturizer, soap and deodorant. I have been a long time believer in using baking soda to brush my teeth  and use toothpaste occasionally but not to often.  I also make my own laundry detergent, I have made dishwasher powder but I found a dollar store brand that was cheaper so I use it instead. I love making my own soy candles and am obsessed with my knitted wash cloths. Recently I made a make-up pad but since I don’t wear make-up that often I haven’t had a chance to try it out.
As I write this I have a nice cozy homemade throw over my shoulders that I made just for me. I crocheted it as well as the bedroom slippers that are somewhere on my bedroom floor. I have yet to make a quilt! :(
Now, I am describing things that I made for me because if I don’t like it why would I give it to or sell it to someone else?
What I don’t give away or sell are the clothes that I make. I am usually disappointed when I purchase things from the store.  Over the years I have discovered items at the thrift store are more in line with my taste but even those are not as prevalent as they use to be. I like traditional conservative clothes. I am not a trend setter or a fashion follower my closet has clothing that are over twenty years old; if you buy the same style in stores they call it vintage and charge a lot of money. Right now all I make are skirts because I cannot find a decent skirt pattern I have to make my own. I like ankle length maxi-skirts, loose fitting pencil.

There is nothing fancy or super sophisticated about the things I cook. Food is in a different category of homemade products since even homemade breads can have harmful man made products in them. I am learning more and more about the harmful effects of GMO foods and that not everything labeled organic is organic in it’s purist sense. But for now I am enjoying making bread and the tomatoes I grew are delicious.

I can’t do everything, nor do I want to do everything. Until recently I thought I bought the best eggs and then I tried Pete and Gerry’s, yes they cost more but they are worth it. These eggs take me back to my childhood and farm fresh produce.

It is easy to make the various products I make but it is not simple which is why not everyone is willing to try.  Some of the things I make require a lot of preparation, like soap or sewing projects. Other things take a lot of time, like growing vegetables or crocheting a quilt. Even making soap powder is time consuming, most people would rather spend a Saturday morning doing something else. It is unfortunate that people do not want to at least try.

I believe everyone, and I mean everyone, should know the basics of making certain things themselves. When people ask me what I use on my skin: I can tell them the products are simply homemade. xxx Marsha L F Randolph

What I write on these Sunday post are things I believe or am studying. It was my personal experiences that drew me to the Word and my need to learn as much as I could about this Being called God. Every church I was ever a part of taught me something- even if it was what not to believe. But sitting down with just a pen, paper and a Bible I learned even more because it was the Spirit of God who guided me through the pages.
I believe in fellowship, what I do not believe in is church attendance. Over the years I have seen so many people not grow despite going to church Sunday after Sunday. You have to be challenged and you must accept that challenge in order to mature in faith. The challenge for every believer is to develop a personal relationship with God. When we get together, fellowship, with other believers it is for the purpose of encouragement and course corrections not just to go to church. (2 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 10:25-27)
Each of us brings our own expectations of God’s word when we sit down to read it, the more you expect the more you will receive.  No understanding should be based solely on what someone has told you. (2 Peter 1:20) Who has been told: “by His stripes you are healed” and still walk around sick? As you study Scripture God’s words becomes significant to you and the idea that He is Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals is believable. If you believe He Is then you will believe that He will; you expect the Word to work for you.
1 Corinthians 2:4-5
And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
Much of the difficulty in believing in the Bible is a result of the infusion of man’s opinion into the mind. Corinthians cautions the believer to put their faith in the power of God not the wisdom of man. Christians have allowed denominations, family traditions, cultural norms, and un-biblical lifestyles to determine how Scripture is to be interpreted. The narrow truth of God’s words have been rejected because man’s opinion provides a wider path to earthly living.

Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Faith taught must be learned. Regular church attendance does not make your faith strong, nor does memorizing Bible verses make you a better Christian. Faith matures when a person is able to apply what is learned to all areas of life appropriately.
What you allow yourself to hear will be applied to your life. People hear such Scriptures as “seedtime and harvest” from Genesis 8:22 but do not understand how it relates to what is happening in their own lives. They hear the news and how bad the economy is and believe that is why they are in debt- application of what is heard.

Mark 8:18.
Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?

Your responses to life is based on your understanding of how God supports you. When a financial emergency arises quoting your Pastor will not change the circumstances. You cannot be a Sunday only Christian and expect to have laying on the hands type of faith (Mark 16:18).  If your focus is on the things of this world you will believe the things of this world much of which is contrary to the Bible.

Faith is about the here and now, how to live on earth. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)  Atheist will tell you that Christianity is irrelevant because they want to push their own theories about life. Un-Christian Christians (a discussion for another time) want to justify their segregationist ideology because of something a person or group of people did in the past, there will always be people and groups of people that manipulate God’s word to their advantage- they are of their father the devil (John 8:44). Muslims will tell you that Jesus was just a prophet and that their god is the real god; this is an important bit of information because many Christians (un-Christian Christians) believe the two religions can peacefully coexist even worship in the same building. Homosexuals and abortionist will tell you that God understands why they are the way they are and that their lifestyle is acceptable to Him; it is a lie from the pits of hell! But a person who has a personal relationship with God because he knows the word will not be moved by false doctrine they will use the sword of God to rightly divide the truth from fiction (2 Timothy 2:15-16).

Romans 8:31-39
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him freely give us all things? Who shall bring charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is He who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

For I am KNOW that neither death nor life, not angels not DEVILS AND DEMONS not ungodly powers, nor things present nor things to come, there is NOTHING TO HIGH nor ANYTHING TO LOW, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate ME from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. This is what I believe; it is A matter of faith- Marsha L F Randolph

Why read when you can watch the movie? Why write when you can send a video?
When my Instagram account updated a new feature was added- the ability to video; I was thinking about how annoying Facebook Live was becoming, and now this? The ability of people to communicate with each other has been going down hill for quite sometime and technology has accommodated this trend.

Why should people read? The advantage of reading is the ability to cross reference. When I write my Bible study blog, A MATTER OF FAITH, I will include  a few verses of Scripture however there are just as many, if not more, that I simply reference. My readers are encouraged to check the Word for themselves this should be applicable to any non-fiction material a person reads. One of the problems today is the frequent ‘corrections’ publications and media outlets have to make, unfortunately these corrections are not emphasized as much as the proven to be fake bit of information.

When reading fiction, like my book THE TRUTH ABOUT VASHTAI, a person is forced to imagine. Isn’t it interesting that Disney makes millions if not billions getting people to imagine! When I write fiction I can see the characters in my mind and have been known to laugh at some of the things one has done. I love HINDS FEET IN HIGH PLACES by Hannah Hunard because of the story line but the writer was able to take me to the village of the main character. Lovers of print are often disappointed when they go to a movie- why does anyone want to be told what to see? A person who reads must participate.

I remember when I first stopped reading picture books, for me it was a rights of passage and an indication that my mind was able to see what the writer was clearly describing. One of the first things I was told about blogging was it was important to have graphics.  What many people fail to understand is the media uses images to manipulate what you focus on and how you receive information; they will show a terrible picture of someone they do not want you to like and a good picture of someone they do want you to like.  The purpose of the image is to take you where the writer wants you to go.

The Bible does not have pictures. Yes some have incorporated graphics and pictures but the original is only words. The lack of pictures is, probably, the reason why there are so many different images of Jesus. Inserting images like a beautiful slim woman at the well as Jesus approaches is what causes people to believe that the Bible is about white people. Without pictures the reader must accept the words as written in context of other words.

I try to keep my blogs short, generally my goal is 500 words people seem to loose interest if there are more. I reluctantly created a YouTube Channel (Nettie F R)the response is far greater than that of my writings- same concept different format. Yes, I have a Twitter account, 3 Facebook pages, an Instagram account, a Pintrest account, a Google+ page, and though I don’t know why I am on LinkedIn: social media has its positives but I am a writer and therefor all of these venues inspire some of my writings.

I enjoyed Instagram because it was captured moments. Why does a person need to speak when a picture says a thousand words? Are we becoming a society that just hates writing? This is my opinion: We have become to dependent on technology. At any given moment at any given time the electricity can be cut off, the news feeds can be controlled and the source of information can disappear. How do you communicate then?

It has already been revealed that both Facebook and Twitter control news feeds thus limiting the information I receive.

I appreciate a letter from a friend or a card in the mail.  These old fashioned ways of communicating tell me that this person thinks enough of me to pause in their busy day and say “I am thinking of you.” Remember when we complained about email?   xxx Marsha L F Randolph

Change is not always easy particularly when you are around people who want you to stay the way that you are. Sometimes the only way to make the necessary changes in your life is to leave the environment you are in.

The cost of change goes far beyond dollars and cents. There is an emotional need to be around things familiar. It hurts when people think the new you is offensive: “You lost all that weight and now you to cute to be around me.” Family can be the most discouraging when you want to do something different and there will be those who will remind you of your failures.

When you decide to make a drastic change in your routine: get a job if you are a stay at home mom, retire, or start your own business, this can disrupt the status quo in your household. No matter how much you have thought it out, no matter what you said to your spouse or your spouse said to you, even if you prepared the children your changing can be upsetting to those around you and cause you to give up.
There are benefits to moving to a new location.  Many a person has found the perfect mate when he or she moved because of a job opportunity. Young people who grow up in a violent neighborhood seem to excel in a positive way when they leave and become surrounded by men and women who study and work hard. Have you ever known a person who was overweight in high school and lost quite a bit of weight by the time he or she returned for a class reunion? Sometimes you have to love your family and friends from afar until you can stay focused on your goals regardless of their opinion.

We all need to make adjustments in our lives not just on January 1, it is a continuous process. Sometimes we decide to do one thing, like get debt free, but we do what we did not want to do, spend money.  What is important is that we realize the set back is not a failure unless we quite.

My faith is the source of my encouragement. My first eBook: MOVING FORWARD BY FAITH describes how I was able to make the necessary adjustments to live victoriously in discouraging times. I do all things through Christ I cannot imagine a life without Him. (Philippians 4:13) Change is not always easy but it is possible.

Matthew 19:26
But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Sean Hannity a radio and television talk show personality has been saying for years ‘Journalism is dead;’ I don’t disagree. After the 2016 election the media, the socialist thinking progressive outlet for the distribution of narrow minded information, began using the phrase ‘fake news.’ Journalism, if you compare it to what was presented in the early 60’s and what is presented as journalism today does not exist- it is dead.

The media outlets cry “fake news” as it pertains to information presented by bloggers and shared on social media yet their are years of stories reported so inaccurately that it tainted their reputation. Consider NBC’s media personality Brian Williams who was suspended for six months because elaborated on a story.  Remember the Pulitzer prize being taken away from Janet Cooke who wrote a series that appeared in the Washington Post but was later found to be ‘fabricated’. How about the wonderful story found in the New York Times written by Jayson Blair? Another fabrication. If a child elaborated on a story the parent would discipline him for lying.

Yet the media has not learned its’ lesson. Do you remember the lie initiated by the White House regarding the trigger for the Benghazi attack and promoted by the media? A video produced by an American unknown.
Of the many irresponsible “journalistic” stories is the one that was the seed to mass confusion and destruction in America; “Hands up don't’ shoot.” This chant, which was reiterated on the floor of Congress, made great headlines but was far from the truth. The young man who the media reported was shot and killed by law enforcement even though he had his hands up in the air as if to surrender- FALSE.

Journalism should be the act of researching and validating information and presenting it in a concrete unbiased way allowing the reader or hearer to develop his own conclusion.

As it is presented by the Socialist Thinking Progressive Outlets: Fake News is the presentation of information by sources other than: CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, ABC,CBS, NBC, Huffington Post, The New York Times, and other outlets that believe the world is to stupid to know how to think. During the next four years we can expect these media outlets to inseminate its’ audience with information I would call artificial intelligence. I suspect that information that is contrary to their ideology will be labeled fake news.

Why will there be a move to declare information as “fake”? Because they have not been able to discredit such information powerhouses like Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity any other way. Think about this the African American History Museum in Washington DC does not think Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is worthy of being presented as one who achieved.

The so called non-fake news outlets have problems with the idea that when Judge Jenine Pirro or  Ann Coulter speak people listen. People such as Lieutenant Colonel Allen West, Michelle Malkin who have blogs as opposed to traditional news columns share facts to their followers. Thomas Sewell and Alan Keyes  teachers of wisdom and knowledge having sharing what they know for years. It is the opinions, references and comments presented by these individuals that are often shared on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites. Since Social Media is able to spread the facts of what is happening around the world as well as distribute information people would not receive from the liberal media the cry of 2017 will be anything read on Social Media is fake.
As for me and my Conservative friends we will continue to reject information that has been artificially created and then forced inside our heads. We will do what we have always done- CHECK FOR ACCURACY BEFORE BELIEVING.      xxx written by Marsha L F Randolph
