“You have been taught to love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you this: love your enemies. Pray for those who torment you and persecute you— in so doing, you become children of your Father in heaven. He, after all, loves each of us—good and evil, kind and cruel. He causes the sun to rise and shine on evil and good alike. He causes the rain to water the fields of the righteous and the fields of the sinner. It is easy to love those who love you—even a tax collector can love those who love him.”   MATTHEW 5:43-46 VOICE TRANSLATION

Sometimes the problem is not loving ugly but ugly not loving you. How do you handle people who consistently mistreat you?  You don’t. It is not about handling anyone but how you respond to their terrible behavior.

Some people I put in the category of ‘Loving from afar,” I cannot give them the love I have because they refuse to receive it. Even God knows that there will be people who will not receive His love. Isaiah warns us all- God is not waiting on you.

Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.

Loving a person does not mean you give up who you are until they become what you think they should be. You were created in the image and likeness of your Father God (Genesis 1:26) and therefore the idea that you are not willing to stand and be mistreated by someone is not un-Christlike. Let me say it another way: Being a Christian does not mean you have to tolerate verbal, physical or any other type of abuse. I cannot repeat this enough: sometimes you have to love a person from afar; you cannot co-exist with everyone.

Note: In the case of marriage- it is true that God hates divorce however He did make provisions for it.

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Father God allowed a person to return to Him when they were ready. “You will look for Me intently, and you will find Me” is how the Voice translated Jeremiah 29:13. Not even God forces someone to love Him. Some people are not ready for love.

Today, many people do not know what love is. There are ideologies, beliefs, that declare: hating the behavior equates to hating the person. These individuals define themselves by their ungodly behaviors, particularly as it pertains to their sexual lifestyles. Society as a whole puts physical labels on people based on: skin color, gender, culture, socio-economic status and even political identification. By focusing on the flesh the beauty of the spirit, which is in us all, is denied.

ROMANS 8:1-5
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

The ability to not only receive love but to give it has to do with our relationship with God the Father through God the Son with the help of God the Spirit.
It is more than what most churches call “being born again,” The belief that Jesus is the who Scripture says He is is the first step. A person must then allow Jesus to exercise lordship over his (or her) life.  When Jesus becomes lord of ones life an individual is subject to His guidelines for living.

We love because He loves and by example demonstrated how to respond to ugly. It is important to understand: to not love the ugly is to be an obstacle in the path of those who need a relationship with God. This is more important today than it has been in anytime that I have been living.

Consider how ugly the world has become: Women brag about having abortions. People celebrate same sex relationships  even having them validated in churches. Today we have regions where child prostitution is acceptable and the use of drugs are acceptable. Rebellion is is tolerated including the destruction of property. And, I am sure the Holy Spirit is grieved to see so called Christian churches lift up Allah in His house. It is ugly, very ugly and I worn against fellowshipping with such unbelievers.

Don’t develop partnerships with those who are not followers of Jesus’ teachings. For what real connection can exist between righteousness and rebellion? How can light participate in darkness?

Everyday we are confronted we ugly, sometimes it is in our home. We love ugly by remembering he / she is also a child of God.  xxx  written by Marsha L F Randolph
