Because you are now part of God’s family, He sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts; and the Spirit calls out, “Abba, Father.”  You no longer have to live as a slave because you are a child of God. And since you are His child, God guarantees an inheritance is waiting for you.

Abba means Father, in Galatians 5:6 the Apostle says we can call out Father Father because we are children of God; we are not slaves; we are not step children; we are not illegitimate or accidental births. We are children of God and we are guaranteed an inheritance.

God is the example all men (should) follow when it comes to being a parent. (*Let the reader be aware: I do not believe a mother can be both father and mother. The absence of a father in the home is a household with the mother bearing the burden of 2 parents but without a father.)

1 JOHN 2:13-14
I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, because you have known the Father.
I have written to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.

Father’s Day is not in the Bible it is a man made holiday however we can use both Mother’s Day and Father’s day as an opportunity to evaluate our parenting skills. Though it is marketed as a day to honor each parent the honor is in being a parent.

PSALMS 127:3 The Complete Jewish Bible
Children too are a gift from Adonai; the fruit of the womb is a reward.

Though the Bible tells us to honor or mother and father the privilege actually belongs to the parent.

Proverbs 17:6
Children’s children are the crown of old men, and the glory of children is their father.

The glory of children is their father, think about that. As a parent are you someone your children can really give honor to? You do not need a special day. Are you demonstrating God the Father to your children so that they are men and women of God?  “I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning.” Your relationship with Father God should be reflected in your children.

Today is father’s day a day in which we can some will honor their earthly fathers. Everyday is a day we can all honor our Father.

“…Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.” (Matthew 6:9)
