22 FOR 22 DAY 10: JOB 29:3

Job 29:3
When His lamp shone upon my head,and when by His light I walked through darkness;

Father God I ask You in the name of Jesus to help those who are lost, help these men and women before they believe the lie. Darkness cannot comprehend light and it is the Light that I pray infiltrates the heart and minds of those who are considering suicide. These ideas are from the devil and the light is not in him, guide your children through the darkness so that they may walk in the light.

Ignorant- to not know; to lack all the information necessary to develop an informed decision; to behave foolishly, without knowledge of proper behavior

The above definitions of ignorant are my definitions. Based on my definition of ignorant I can admit that there have been times when I have been ignorant and did not know it, there are times when I am ignorant of necessary information and make poor decisions and there are times when I choose to not know. To choose to not know is being Ignorant by Choice- IBC.
Often I override my lack of knowledge by researching the facts this is often as a direct result of someone pointing out that I do not know all of the information. In December of 2015 I determined that I knew enough about the Republican candidates to select Donald Trump as the person I wanted to be President. Around January of 2016 I decided I had heard enough about the Republican party to become of no political affiliation.  By February of 2016 I determined that I know longer wanted to hear any more information regarding any of the political candidates; I told people I was going to become narrow-minded.
I stopped accepting information from people who had hidden agendas and were good at manipulating information. I had gathered all the information I needed to make an informed decision. I had listened to the pros and cons of many regarding each candidate- a lot of people were against Trump.
The information most of the people I talked to was clearly obtained from news media reports. A few people quoted news articles but had failed to read the retraction that was posted later. Very few people did there own research. Those who celebrated their political candidate reiterated the carefully constructed words of the “consulting” team- a consulting team is a political word for marketing group.
Why do people hate Trump? After months of asking I cannot get a clear answer. People talk about” his hair, his wives, his business bankruptcy, the failed university and his attacks on the other candidates. People have accused him of being: racist, sexist, homophobic, arrogant; and even accused him of neglecting his daughter Tiffany.
Donald Trump dies his hair- so what! Donald Trump has been married a couple of times, his marriage to Marla was very public, they both moved on. Donald Trump’s business ventures (not all of them) filed bankruptcy according to the rule of law- it happens. Both people and businesses file bankruptcy in America and then they start all over. I don’t have all the facts on the university however I have watched television infomercials and receive invitations from people who offer similar deals at similar prices. I find it interesting that people make accusations about a person who has friends of all socio-ethnic groups and lifestyles. And of course his daughter Tiffany set the record straight regarding her father’s involvement in her life.
So why do people hate Donald Trump? Because he is truly a Blue Collar Billionaire and he does not fit the stereotype of rich people. Yes, he has his own airplane and helicopter but he lets other people ride in it- he permitted his pilot to fly 200 stranded men and women of the military home; he arranged for a child to be transported to a hospital when the airlines refused to do so. He has given jobs to veterans; paid bills of strangers; and behaved as a humanitarian on more than one occasion.  He did this when people saw him as the man who said “You’re fired!” on television. People don’t like Donald J. Trump because he reminds them of what they don’t do- work hard.
Hillary Clinton lied to families of people who died serving this country, she lied to the people about her behavior in regards to confidential information she was responsible for. People support Hillary Clinton because she is not a Republican.
When Ms. Clinton is campaigning in the south she has a southern accent; when she is campaigning around African-Americans she is down with the cause; when she is around homosexuals she is sympathetic and compassionate about their struggles; when she is around Muslims she appreciates their culture and the need to incorporate sharia law into their lifestyle. She is who you are for the moment, like a chameleon Hillary Rodham Clinton changes with the environment she is in. People support her because they have made a decision to ignore the indisputable facts, IBC, and be loyal to the Democrat party.
It takes a lot of effort to be politically IBC. A person must ignore the teachings of Scripture. A person must forget about what the Constitution and the laws of the federal, state and local governments.  To be politically ignorant by choice a person must be more loyal to his or her party than his or her household.
When a person ignores such information as: an individual allowing information regarding this nations security be carelessly handled with no care or concern of its’ consequences, then the individual is not only ignorant but ignorant by choice. To support a person who knowingly violated logic and federal law because of personal convenience makes no sense to one who thinks. To vote for someone who allowed information regarding this country that the citizens are not aware of to fall into enemy hands believing it will not harm this nation is foolish.
There is a difference between accepting information from a variety of sources and then rejecting some sources because they have on more than one occasion reported false information (NY Times for example) and rejecting any information that is contrary to what you want to believe.
I admit to being narrow minded; I will not listen to ignorant people.  I will not be ignorant regarding such matters that pertain to life: I read my Bible and I research the political candidates and I make informed decisions. I will not be IBC which is why I am NPA- no political affiliation.

22 FOR 22 DAY 9: 2 SAMUEL 22:29

2 Samuel 22:29
For You are my lamp, O Lord the Lord shall enlighten my darkness.

On this day of our Lord I stand in the gap of those who are contemplating suicide. I pray in the name of Jesus, that You Lord will be a lamp to these men and women and that they will come out of the darkness which plagues them.

22 for 22 DAY 8: MATTHEW 18:18

Matthew 18:18
Assuredly, I say to you whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

I declare in the name of Jesus that the spirit of suicide is bound. I loose, is the name of Jesus: Love, peace, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control which is the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). I declare and decree, in the name of Jesus, the spirit of suicide is impotent particular among the men and women who serve in the United States Army.

Psalm 139:13-16
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.
My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written. The days fashioned for me when as yet there were none of them.

Who respects individuality these days? Who can accept each persons unique physical appearance as well as personality?  Billions of dollars are spent each year promoting a “look;” the media denigrates traditional while promoting specific lifestyles.

Far to frequently we hear of a woman dying from medical procedures that were meant to improve a body section- bigger: hips, lips, chest; flatter stomachs. I personally think it is silly to hear about seventy year old men taking pills to increase their virility! Trying to be who other people say you should be can is a battle you will never win being yourself may cause you to loose friends but it will give you the peace that you are looking for.

Psalm 139, in its entirety, discusses the uniqueness of the individual as it pertains to how God sees His children. God knows what He created. Verses 13 through 16 of Psalm 139 discusses how He formed man from the inside out: “You covered me in my mother’s womb.”  (That includes your gender: before a person was born God knew who was going to be male and female; it is in your DNA.)

Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
Psalm 22:9-10
But You are He who took Me out of the womb; You made Me trust while on My mother’s breasts.
I was cast upon You from birth. From my mother’s womb You have been My God.

Job 7:17-18
What is man, that You should exalt him, that You should set Your heart on him,
That You should visit him every morning, and test him every moment.
Psalm 8:3-4
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?
Galatians 1:15
But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace,

God knew and knew how you were going to look and what type of personality you were going to have before you were born. You were not created to be sick or plagued with diseases; nor were you created to be any other gender than what your DNA states. If your hair is curly or straight, black, blond or red God is not surprised. Father God is not surprised that you want to stay home and care for your children- that is what he planned for women (be fruitful and multiply). God is not surprised when a man has a strong to ‘do’ something (He placed man in the garden to till it). People who make money from your wanting to change do not care what God planned before you were formed in your mother’s womb.

As you study the above Scriptures, and research more of your own found throughout the Bible, realize you don’t have to change. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, you are unique, marvelous are God’s creations.

ALL SCRIPTURES quoted are from the New King James Bible translation unless otherwise stated.

“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh and tell him, “Thus says the Lord God of the Hebrews: “Let My people go that they may serve Me.” Exodus 9:1

Why do people go to church these days? To hear the rest of a message that is being continued from Sunday to Sunday. To see someone they only get to see on Sunday. To make sure they are able to give their tithes and offerings. Because they do not want to “forsake the assembling of themselves” (Hebrews 10:25).  Many were taught church attendance was a requirement for all Christians.

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker,” Psalm 95:6

We come together in honor of and to recognize our Lord and our Maker. What is required is an open heart able to receive. What is not necessary is fancy clothes, fancy cars, big screen televisions, electronic Bibles and changing stage backgrounds. (Once upon a time the pulpit was a pulpit and then it became more and more extreme then it became a stage.)

Remember that song from back in the day- Just As I am?  When did things get complicated? When was it determined a person had to first decide if he was Methodist, Baptist, Episcopalian or non-denominational? When did dress codes become a matter of church doctrine and water baptism become a ideology?

“Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:2-3

We have exchanged a relationship with our Lord for the religion of the people.

“All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son and the one whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” Matthew 11:27

Todays churches have it backwards, they have divided themselves according to ideology. Far to many leaders have manipulated God’s word to accommodate their lifestyle.

“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; Ephesians 4:11-13

The Hebrews went into the wilderness so that they could serve God through worship.  They did not go into the wilderness to feed the homeless, bless the pastor with a special offering, hear the latest new thing from the Torah, or any other church related activity.

Not many people worship God when they are bound by a problem. Today, when people loose their job they turn to the government when they get sick they turn to their doctor and somewhere in the middle they ask someone to pray for them.

The Bible tells us to seek first the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33). In the book of Exodus God wanted the children to get away from their burdens, strongholds and focus solely on Him. We, as Believers, need to separate ourselves from the world and acknowledge God.

“Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.” Isaiah 55:6

22 for 22 day 7: 1 Corinthians 3:7

1 Corinthians 3:6
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.

Father God I come to You in the name of Jesus. Many are giving of the time on behalf of the veterans who commit suicide on a daily basis, I ask that these efforts be treated as seeds of life. I ask that those who are praying be treated as water on those seeds. And I thank You that the increase will be that of long lives and not suicide. AMEN.

22 FOR 22 DAY 6: MATTHEW 25:40-45

Matthew 25:40-45
And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

“Then they also will answer Him,[a] saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’

Forgive us Father, for neglecting Your children; for allowing men and women who served to go naked, sick, mentally imprisoned, hopeless to the point of suicide hungry not only for food but for Your word. Have mercy Father on Your children those whom this nation has ignored. Put everyone of them, especially those who would consider suicide, in the right place so that they will live. Place men and women in their path who will love them as You love them. This I pray in Jesus name- AMEN.

I remember when the trend of “loving your body” first came out. Motivational speakers were encouraging women to look at themselves naked in a mirror. Do you really have to look at yourself naked to know that you have lumps and bumps? Loving your naked body has nothing to do with accepting who you are. Learning how to accept who you are will help you appreciate how you are built.

Negative attitudes manifest in a person’s health and  may not be picked up when you look in the mirror. Irritable Bowel Syndrome, headaches, high blood pressure, stomach pains, loss of appetite and so many other things can be a result of ugly ideologies. Often angry people do not realize how bad they look to others.

When a person can let go of emotions such as hate it brings an inner peace that leads to physical healing. In the Bible Scripture tells us to cast our cares on the Lord(1 Peter 5:7); it also tells us to think on good things (Philippians 4:8). You cannot see love in a mirror but people who have loving personalities are beautiful “in the eyes of the beholder.”

Even if you like what you see in the mirror there is not  a guarantee you will be happy. When I used to work with special needs children I was always amazed at how content they were despite their physical disadvantages. When I think about all of the surgeries Michael Jackson had it is apparent that loving how you look on the outside does not equate to being content with who you are.

There was also a saying “your attitude will determine your altitude.” The key to improving your physical body is working on the inside first. If you love who you are you will love how you are.

22 FOR 22 DAY 5: HEBREWS 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Father God, I know that You do not forget Your children even during times when we forget You. I come to You in the name of Jesus asking for a restoration of hope in the hearts and minds of veterans who are today considering suicide. I thank You Lord Jesus, for enduring 39 stripes so that these men and women would be healed not only in the body but in the soul as well.
Thank You Lord for the finished work of the cross which provides for the restoration of hope and those who once considered suicide. IN JESUS NAME I PRAY- AMEN.

22 FOR 22 DAY 4: JOHN 10:10

John 10:10 NKJV
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy, I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Father God it is not right that men and women become so discouraged that they believe the only way to receive peace is through death. I know that it is only the works of the devil, the thief, that wants to steal the joy of veterans. It is the devil who wants to kill the heart of veterans. It is the devil who wants to destroy the life of veterans. I ask that You put on the hearts of men and women who can reach out to those who have no hope so that, as Your servants, they can show them to the One who has already provided them with hope. I pray that the veterans of this great land will be filled with the hope through Jesus so that they will live the remainder of their days in an abundant life. AMEN.

22 FOR 22 DAY 3: JOHN 14:27

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Father God I pray for peace in the hearts and minds of those men and women who are considering suicide. Let Your love and peace infiltrate their hearts and minds so that they will reject the works of the devil who is trying to persuade them to end their life here on earth. Help them Father know that Jesus died so that they would not have to. Let not their hearts be troubled neither let them be afraid. In the Name that is above ever name, that is Jesus, I pray. AMEN

  1. I finished my last sewing project
  2. I have lots of soap on the shelf.
  3. I have to order more fragrance oil before I can make candles.
  4. My crochet project is on hold until I get more yarn.
  5. I am almost finished my latest wash cloth, I stopped knitting as fast to delay the inevitable.
  6. I even finished reading the book I needed to read for review.

What am I going to do?????

I don’t know any crafter who does not have multiple projects going on and even more planned for this very reason- craft withdrawals. A person can only do so much writing and knitting in a day and then she needs to do something noisy like sewing! Unfortunately, I have fabric but no real project in mind. I need to make a trip to Hobby Lobby.

Hobby Lobby is like a drug. The minute I get in the parking lot I get excited. Just entering the building and there is a peace that comes over me, I could just curl up and sleep in the fabric section. The Christian music infuses my soul and I am energized and I begin shopping, and shopping, and shopping and shopping, and shopping! Hobby Lobby overdose!

Because I have a history of not being disciplined in book stores I became a book reviewer; now I get my books for free. Because I lack discipline in Hobby Stores I have limited the number of times I can go and the amount of money I can spend. This means I have to know exactly what I need and why I need it. That is sooooooo hard!

Once upon a time I had two tubs filled with patterns most of them I had never used. I had stacks of fabric for garments that I never made. After a few years of shuffling these things from room to room, corner to corner I finally gave them away. Today I want to slap myself.

The best way to avoid craft
withdrawals is to have a lot of stuff in your to do pile.

22 FOR 22 DAY 2: ROMANS 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Father God I come to You as Your child through my Lord Your Son Jesus. I am standing in the gap for the men and women who served the United States of America and have come home to a world who has not received them well. I ask that You send laborers across their path who will help them renew their minds to Your love, grace and truth. I pray that they will reject suicide and accept Your Son Jesus to be Lord over their lives. AMEN

22 FOR 22 DAY 1: 2 CHRONICLES 20:17

2 Chronicles 20:17 NKJV
“You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”

Father God I come to You in the name of Jesus on behalf of the men and women who served in the military and are now considering suicide. Send laborers to them that will let them know that You are fighting for them. Let them know that they have hope for tomorrow. AMEN

On August 13, 2016 I was watching Jason of BIG BEAR HOMESTEAD part of THE HOMESTEAD NETWORK challenged his YouTube followers to spend the next 22 days remembering the 22 veterans who commit suicide everyday. The challenge was 22 push-ups for 22 days and call your congressional representative.

I joined him on his day 3. I am not doing push ups but I am doing 22 toe touches and praying. The prayers I will post on the blog.

22 veterans commit suicide every day that is 22 to many. People who have served this country and this country is not serving them.

2 Chronicles 7:13-15 NKJV
When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray  and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and forgive their sins and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.

Lately there have been a lot of individuals quoting 2 Chronicles 7:14 - “If My people…heal their land.” The context in which these individuals share this particular Scripture is in relation to the transgressions of politicians and other people of influence such as Pastors, perhaps a few other Christians but never themselves. I believe this particular verse applies to all Believers.
I was thinking about this verse one day and realized the opposite is true: If God’s children do not humble themselves and do not turn from their ways no healing will take place.
Is my eternal life tied up in the lifestyle of a bunch of fake Christians? No, Jesus took care of that.
In verse 13 God said something very definite, He said “When I shut….” This tells me that things will happen and my protection is my attitude.
When Father God speaks of is “My people” it is one thing to say “I am a child of God” it is another thing for God to say “that is My child.”

Exodus 8:22 NKJV
“I will make a difference between My People and your people. Tomorrow this sign shall be.”

Again, people say: “Everybody talkin’ about heaven ain’t going there.” This is true. It is not me or any other person who determines who gets in it will be God- He knows His children.
Quite a few of my children’s friends call me “Ma” I know they are not my children even though I allow them to call me Ma. I know they are not mine by their behavior. The same is true for God’s children, there are two Scriptures that determine who you are.

John 8:31
“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.””
John 13:35
“By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

It is amazing the number of Christians who have yet to read Scripture from Genesis to Revelation one time let alone “abide” (to constantly be aware of) in the word of God. The amount of unforgiveness within the body of Christ reveals how so many people do not have love for other believers- forget about not loving non-believers.  Therefore, when God speaks of distinguishing “My People,” in Exodus 8:22, the question is: are you recognized by God as His child?
It is when those who are recognized as children of God stop acting like they are part of this world that the nation will change. I believe God’s children are humbling themselves. I believe God’s children are repenting, changing their ways. I believe God hears our prayers. When the plagues come the Pharaohs in the pulpits and the rest of the world will see who God considers to be his children.

What if you got ready for a storm that did not come? You have plenty of food in the pantry; enough water for at least a week; flashlights have batteries in them and candles and matches are ready; the gas tanks in the car are full; everyone is safe at home, is that a bad thing? This is what Preppers do, they get ready for emergencies.

Prepping is not a foreign concept. Many people rush to the stores to purchase supplies for upcoming storms. The government refers to these last minute preparations as emergency preparedness.

Money is always an issue. To get ready for an emergency at the last minute cost more money than what Preppers spend because of advance planning.  In order to purchase a lot of things at the last minute often people place the expenses on a credit card, an unexpected debt.  Some people borrow money to cover the unexpected cost, do not pay a bill or dip into funds allocated for something else. Unfortunately, in some cases, after the storm has passed there will be residual problems such as poor water conditions or down power lines which lead to more unexpected cost- last minute planners do not always prepare for such events.

People become angry when the weather forecast turn out to be wrong or relived if they did not prepare and did not have to face the emergency. In my book YOU’RE NOT READY I discuss some basics of preparing and why I consider myself a Hybrid-Prepper.  Having experienced the unpredictable winter weather of the north and the tropical weather patterns of the south I have learned how to take advantage of various sales that keep my pantry and supply shelf stocked.

What if you got ready for a storm that did not come? You would be ready for the one that will come.

John 12:24 NKJV
“Most assuredly I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls down into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.”

What does it mean when Jesus speaks of a death that leads to life?  If you look at a seed, any seed, it is of a particular shape and form when it falls into the ground it changes. Over the process of time what was once a seed becomes a sprout, something not noticed by the untrained eye as it peeks above the ground. That sprout grows, subject to the elements- wind, rain, a lawn-mower, a foot. At some point it becomes noticeable to all around that something is growing BUT everyone waits to see if it will indeed become what it is suppose to come or will it succumb to the elements. If the plant does not make it, it will return to the ground; if the plant grows as it should it will produce other plants.

The key ingredient to all life is water; plants need water to grow. Humans are about 60% water (we should drink half our body weight in ounces of water daily).  We also need water to grow spiritually:

1 Corinthians 3:6 NKJV
“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.”

And it is the word of God that is the word that waters.

1 John 5:6-
"This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth."

After dinner one Friday, Chip and I sat in the back yard enjoying cake and coffee. It was a nice cool summer evening, peaceful. But, our peace was short lived when we heard the voice of Chip’s friend Earl hollering from the front of the house.
Chip chose not to respond to the repeated calling of his name. I could imagine earl ringing the doorbell, knocking on the door and peeking in the window. It would be a matter of time when Earl would walk around the house to see if we were in the garden. Chip finished his desert and began sipping his coffee.
We could hear him before we could see him walking around the house to get to the back. Just as I said he looked around the garden before spotting us sitting under the tree.
“Chip! Chip!” Earl shouted, short of breath but still running to come to where we were sitting. “Chip!”
“Have a seat and catch your breath, man. We ain’t goin’ no where.” Chip said.
“Can I get you something Earl?” I asked.
“Naw, Nettie I am going to be just a few minutes, I just came to tell Chip about my new venture.” He responded.
“Well maybe I should leave.”
“Naw, it won’t take long.”
Chip turned to his friend and asked: “What is the new project?”
“Chip, I am going into the internet sales business.”
“I am going into the internet sales business.”
“What are you going to sale.”
“I am going to buy stuff at the thrift store and fix it up and sell it on the internet.”
“Earl, you think you are going to make money selling other people’s junk?”
“People do it all the time Chip. They call it refurbished items.”
“What have you ever refurbished?” Chip asked.
“Nothing, I will figure it out as I go. But I think this is a good way to earn a few extra dollars, do you want in?”
Chip’s ‘no’ was fast and definitive, as a long time friend Earl should know that the subject should be changed.  Like me if you pursue and closed conversation, Chip will say things that may hurt your feelings.
“Listen man, a few hundred dollars initial investment and we would be set! And they only reason it would be that much money is because we have to get tools. I thought of you first because you have a place big enough to store everything. You don’t even have to put in two hundred dollars, I am sure you have stuff around here that we can sell.
“I am going to get my granddaughter to set up one of those online stores- eatsee or edzee- whatever it is called. And I will even mail the stuff when the orders come in.
“I know you are not hurting for money but everyone can use some spare change.”
Chip stood up, adjusted his pants, and began his speech. It was to late for me to leave so I just sat and waited for the lecture I knew was coming.
“Earl, remember when you were going to take a class on computer repair and make money on the side fixing other peoples computers?” Earl took a deep breath to respond but Chip cut him off. “Nope, I am asking questions but I don’t want you to answer, I want you to think.
“Now, I told you to think about what you were going to do before you spent over five thousand dollars on a program you knew nothing about. But! You spent your money and after one class quit. Then, Earl, you decided you would grow a garden.
“I let you use a small patch of my land, because your wife wouldn’t let you do anything to her pristine yard. Your plan was to sell vegetables at the flea market. Remember that? You planted the seeds but never weeded the garden. Fortunately, Nettie told you what to plant which was what she was going to plant and she took over your garden. My wife paid somebody to sell the vegetables, the ones you were going to grow, at the flea market.
“What about the time you were going to tow cars? You spent a good chunk of money purchasing a tow truck, yes it was used, and then realized that you would have to tow cars at all times of the day just to make your money back. The good news was you gave the truck to one of your sons and he is making a good living towing cars.
“Then there was the time you wanted to raise chickens, and the time you wanted to sell soap, and the time…” Chip paused, adjusted his pants, looked at me and looked at Earl; he had proven his point. “My point is this Earl, you have lots of dreams. Your ideas are good but they are ideas for other people. You need to get your own dream and in order to get your dream you need to be still.
“God said in His word- I know the plans I have for you. God is not finished with you yet. Maybe instead of coming up with all of these dreams you need to get a vision. You know, where there is no vision the people perish. What to you see yourself doing Earl?”
Chip was finished, this last question was meant to be answered. Earl was quiet, Chip had sat down, I gathered the dishes and took them into the house. When I returned Earl was gone. Chip and I continued sitting as the sun disappeared and the moon appeared.

Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

I Keep running out of yarn and I bent a set of my knitting needles so what did I do? I gave away a pair of knitting needles and a pack of yarn to a friend.

This person, let’s call her Sharon, had purchased a knitting starter kit for less than $10. Her yarn was crappy, a very poor quality, and her needles were plastic. Sharon had been trying for months to learn how to knit with the kit, she had a few people show her and kept watching YouTube videos to no avail. I tried to show Sharon what to do using her stuff and I got frustrated.

Knitting can be frustrating but it is also relaxing when you first get started. The only things I knit are washcloths and I crochet blankets. You cannot be in a hurry when you are doing any type of craft especially knitting. I could probably make a washcloth in a day or two but I choose to make one over a two week period. Knitting is, to me, doing nothing with a purpose.

My friend leads a very stressful life, she works very hard and has a son with multiple health issues. Knitting for her was something to do that did not require her going somewhere, interacting with people or even thinking about the next doctor’s appointment.  While knitting she could sit at work, she is a private duty nurse, while her patient is sleeping and not fall asleep, or she could sit at home and watch a good movie. When knitting you don’t have to think about the world.

I did not really need those needles and giving away my 100% cotton yarn gave me an excuse to go to my favorite store- HOBBY LOBBY! (Yes I do use acrylic yarn but the quality is better than that crap she had in her starter kit.) A few weeks after teaching her how to knit with the needles and yarn I gave her she text me a picture of her work- beautiful. She is coming over soon so I can show her how to cast off.

I just finished a washcloth -that I gave away. And so I went to Hobby Lobby to get more yarn, I only purchased one pack of yarn but I will be back.  On my cell phone is a Hobby Lobby app, the app has a 40% off coupon- I know other stores have similar but the atmosphere at Hobby Lobby is better. I have to go get quilting supplies so I can also get yarn.

I also need to sell some of this stuff so that I can support my crafting habits.

Everyone has a dream and with dreams comes nay-sayers. What do you do when you are surrounded by people, particularly family, who tell you what you cannot do? Keep going.

It is important that your dream be realistic and you are willing to do the work. If you want to run a marathon next week but you are 500 pounds and never ran before-it is not going to happen. But, if you are willing to loose the weight, begin a fitness routine that includes running, at some point you will be able to run a marathon. Achieving your goal has nothing to do with other peoples opinion and everything to do with you.

Often people come to me and say: “I have a book I want to write.” My response is: “Go for it!” I always tell people, the first step is to write, it doesn’t have to be perfect it just has to be written, later corrections can be made. Very few people even start the first draft- they didn’t really want to write.
I have a friend who is very talented, he is a computer wiz yet he did nothing with his computer skills? Why? Because his family repeatedly called him a failure; they often reminded him of his mistakes.
Encouragement comes from within. If you do not believe in yourself it does not matter how awesome other people think you or your idea is.

Establish your goal, commit to doing whatever it takes to accomplish it and then do it.

Parenting is hard today because adults have allowed man to influence how they raise their children. It is written:

Isaiah 54:13 NKJV
All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.

If you don’t believe that verse take a look around at what is happening to young children everywhere- no peace. Parents are not leading their children to Christ and so children are not being taught the gospel.

Mark 10:14 NKJV
But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God as a little child will by know means enter it.”

Instead parents are sending their children to school and allowing a godless organization influence their minds. Children grow up and become parents, many sooner than they should, and the cycle begins.

So what can you do when you have rebellious teenagers? How do you respond to young adults who still live at home and are not contributing to society, or the household? Step one - you change.

“Do as I say not as I do” is a dumb parenting philosophy. You are to imitate Christ so that your life becomes a witness. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you, and the Father for wisdom.

Step two- pray for your family. Particularly with grown children; you have no idea what they are doing outside of your presence but God knows. There are times when the Holy Spirit will tell you to say nothing and do nothing but will send laborers who can minister to your child (and your spouse). The Spirit of God may tell you to apologize to your teenage child. Of course God will give you rules that the household should adhere to, boundaries that are not meant to be crossed.

James 1:5 NKJV
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

Parenting was not easy for Adam and Eve however God was with them,, they did not have the Board of Education teaching their children that same sex relationships was normal or that a woman had a right to an abortion. There were no groups shouting that faith in God was bad when Cain killed his brother. What existed back then, after they ate of the fruit exist today- knowledge of good and evil. And as it was then it is now- we can choose evil that leads to death or good that leads to life.

It is possible for you to parent your children correctly. It is possible for your grown children to change. You have to become the seed, a grain of wheat, for your household.

John 12:24 NKJV
“Most assuredly I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls down into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.”
