Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
For the next 30 days I will be intentionally looking for positive news and information. Much of what we see and hear today is negative. News has become hateful and many of us repeat the hateful words we have heard. We as a people have become angry, the fruit of hate. These emotions are not from God.
We are told in Philippians to think about, meditate on, the positive; we are not instructed to ignore what is happening. We are to give the majority of our thought-life to what is: true, noble, just, pure, lovely, good reports, virtuous concepts, and anything praiseworthy. You might have to turn the television and radio off in order to remain focused on what is good; you might even have to avoide certain people.
What is true? When we think of the word true we think: not false, it means a lot more. To be true something or someone must be believable, credible. Someone who is true is faithful, has integrity, is honest. Something that is true wil endure the test of time; it is long lasting, irrevocable. The word of the Lord is.
PSALM 119:160 KJV
Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
But the Lord is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King. At His wrath the earth will tremble, and the nations will not be able to endure His indignation.
Jesus is the Word and He is the Truth.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
JOHN 14:6 King James Version)
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The word of God is true:
2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Two hours of church service plus an hour of Bible Study at church a week pales when compared to the hours a day we spend listening to and talking about negative reports. Many individuals fill their minds with negative information from news outlets and doctors’ reports thus their conversations are rarely good. Not enough Word is taken in thus many speak what “they say” without consideration as to what the Bible states.
The word of God is true, the world does not focus on the truth. The world profits financially by sharing and creating problems. Jesus is a problem solver which is why the world does not speak about Jesus.
JOHN 16:33 The Expanded Bible
“I told you these things so that you can have peace in me. In this world you will have ·trouble [persecution; suffering], but ·be brave [take courage/heart]! I have ·defeated [victory over; conquered; overcome] the world.”
Social media is filled with commentaries about “Fake News” and people debating it. As followers of Christ we must focus on and spread the good news of Jesus the Christ. — written by Marsha L F Randolph
